1. Yaoundé

Yaoundé

Speaking Minds return to Aeon with their first EP on the label, after a remarkable appearance as remixers on Dodi Palese’s ‘Black Drop Effects’. This release starts off with ‘JSB’, a captivating and hypnotic affair enhanced by perfectly crafted delayed synths creeping out of the background. The constant darkness in harmonies and pads takes the listener through a brilliantly thought out progression and leaves them wanting for more after this 9-minute trip ends. ‘Yaoundé’ continues on this melancholic vibe, while bringing forward a more cinematic and even more chilling side from the Italian producers’ music. The main ambient lead develops beautifully, alongside many synth harmonies, and offers a contrast with a pushing drum section. This track is reduced to its essence, with crisp shakers and hi-hats bringing a drive to the intense atmosphere created by numerous harmonic layers. Closing off this EP, ‘Paradise’ features a drunken melody evolving all through the track; a hook that is celverly completed by a pad halfway through. The arrangement, natural and flowing, makes every element of this trip shine, from the discrete chords in the background to the main synth line. Speaking Minds have truly spoken with their heart here. This is a collection of masterfully crafted tracks full of melancholy and passion. Prepare to be taken aboard this cinematic trip...

2. Denis Horvat - Cedevita

Denis Horvat - Cedevita

AEON and label boss Alex Niggemann are thrilled to welcome Denis Horvat back to AEON for another smashing EP, this time with the superb three-tracker ‘Minor’. Previously releasing on Noir Music, Upon You, Get Physical and Souvenir, not to mention his stellar release on AEON last year, the Danish producer is getting his just desserts after years of meticulously curating and creating stellar music. Here we have a hat trick of all encompassing cuts, and although bursting with the oomph you need for a heads down, hands up main room stomp, these tracks offer you more than just a 4’4 beat and a soundtrack to your rave, thanks to the skill and careful attention Horvat has put into each one. Captivating from the off, Minor is a melancholic yet rapid composition of layered synth chords and percussion. As your heart starts to race, the energy continues to build with the track ‘DIY’, complete with driving bassline, reverb and effective distortion. Rounding off on a high, ‘Cedevita’ brings the pulse back up again with another meticulously programmed latticework of drums, bass, and unadulterated dance floor decadence, with that added ambience of intrigue that goes hand in hand with Horvat’s productions. Through this solid EP, the producer continues to create dense, barnstorming techno beats complete with that extra signature darkness.

3. AEON021 - Alex Niggemann - Angular (Original Mix)

AEON021 - Alex Niggemann - Angular (Original Mix)

As we turn over into 2016, AEON head honcho Alex Niggemann takes the reins for AEON’s second release in the New Year... and what an EP it is. As a DJ, producer and label boss, Alex’s production focuses on the more soulful and wistful side of Techno. With two solid original tracks and a very strong remix from Mathew and Nathan Jonson’s familiar project Midnight Operator, this release is another in the line of high quality techno AEON has become synonymous of. Starting off with ‘Angular’, the A-side, a rising feeling of suspense progressively builds into a melodic trance. Layers seamlessly blend together, lead by an array of arpeggio-ed synthesisers. All of this is beautifully interlinked with stripped back, subtle drum patterns.. ‘Convection’ brings a slightly more percussive based overlay of sound design. Layers of hats and drone like sounds build slowly until an uplifting breakdown, familiar in Alex’s productions, cuts through the track. On remix duties, Mathew and Nathan Jonson alias Midnight Operator brings a fresh approach to ‘Angular’. A psychedelic introduction builds up to a climax, before dropping right down into a very unique stripped back break beat. Angular EP is another release of quality techno from AEON, a label that is hitting all the right notes with its output, and is fast becoming a fixture in many international DJs’ bags.

11. Alex Niggemann – Exos

Alex Niggemann – Exos

Tracklist: 1. Alex Niggemann – Exos 2. Alex Niggemann – Array 3. Alex Niggemann – Array (Yotam Avni remix) Release Date: 20/04/2018 ‘Exos’ marks an anticipated return for Alex Niggemann, following his two 2017 outings, ‘Legacy’ / ‘Fences’ (AEON027) and ‘Serenity’ (AEON031). The releases on the highly respected Berlin based producer’s label, AEON, mirror the DJ sets that he is famed for, focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless music, whilst always pushing boundaries and moving things forward. Alex’s first outing in 2018 is a diverse package that displays his customary variety of moods and textures. ‘Exos’ demonstrates Alex’s command of intricate layering techniques, and jacking rhythmic patterns sure to rock the most discerning of floors, building to a satisfying synth laden climax. ‘Array’ by contrast, adheres to a darker and more melancholic mood, building a haunting tension throughout, and driving relentlessly and menacingly forward at all times. Yotam Avni has been catching many people’s attention with his recent outings on Innervisions and Hotflush. 15. Alex Niggemann - Just A Little feat. Jonny Cruz (Steve Bug Remix)

Alex Niggemann - Just A Little feat. Jonny Cruz (Steve Bug Remix)

Alex Niggemann is pleased to present his new label AEON. Bringing us back to Alex’s roots, AEON will showcase the music which inspired him to start DJing and also begin his career as a producer. This new brand brings together a crew of talented artists, who share the same thoughts about House music and its way of life, creating one platform to release music that stands for quality; Classic and timeless House/Techno combined with the technical possibilities and influences of today… Continuously forging his own path, irrespective of any hype and what the scene is asking for, and doing everything with a passion and the will to reach his goals has made Alex Niggemann the personality he is today. Alex grew to be an established and successful DJ & producer, wanting to release music purely for lovers, for people who cut their own path, who dance just the way they feel, celebrating and being passionate about what they do without following rules and trends; the things which characterized the “rave culture” of the 90ies. Only two things are important - you and the music. The debut release, ‘Just A Little’ sees Niggemann explore a chunky tech house aesthetic, precise analogue drum programming and gnarly melodies. Narrated by a late night House mantra and punctuated by full bodied synth work, ‘Just A Little’ is destined for the more discerning floors. Bolstering the original are two well executed remixes from fellow scene stalwarts, Glimpse and Steve Bug. Poker Flat boss Bug’s mix adds a metallic shine and sleazy edge to proceedings, whilst Glimpse employs his trademark heavy set, stripped back grooves, coated in layers of gritty atmosphere and off-kilter processing. A strong release that forms the foundations of what is set to become the go-to label for authentic House and Techno, Alex Niggemann showcases his production prowess alongside his A&R nous. ‘Just A Little’ is out early June 2013 on Aeon .

16. Transparent (Marvin & Guy Remix)

Transparent (Marvin & Guy Remix)

Part Danish, part Croatian techno maestro Denis Horvat has wasted no time in making a name for himself as an artist to sit up and take note of. After erupting onto the scene with vibe heavy releases on some of the underground’s most coveted labels Denis returns to Alex Niggeman’s AEON imprint with a club ready three track EP sure to set dancefloors alight throughout summer 2016. Opening with title track ‘Exit’ Denis quickly sets the tone for what’s to come with a rapturously rolling beat and instantly recognisable pounding bassline. With the introduction of long, drawn out bass folds and quickening synths going a long way to set the pace, Denis expertly builds anticipation before dropping the track into a deep, club ready roller – leaving no doubt in his expert production capabilities. Next up, ‘Moderna’ rolls in and keeps the vibe decidedly underground with a plethora of futuristic horns and synth interchanges quickly building suspense before the beat kicks in and the listener is taken to altogether more euphoric place. With a deeply moreish keyboard loop and atmospheric bass formations, ‘Moderna’ ups the ante on this record, taking the release from straightforward club EP, to artist defining record. Rounding off the three tracker, ‘Transparent’ opens with a tough punchy beat that can be instantly attributed to Horvat’s sonic aesthetic. The beat gives way into deep, driving drums before the whole track takes an almost acidic turn with waspy synths and a compellingly underground bassline, leaving no doubt in this track’s sure fire capability as a big room club weapon. Calling in Marvin & Guy for remix duties the EP is brought to a close with the duo’s up tempo interpretation of ‘Transparent’. Keeping the track firmly club ready, Marvin & Guy’s influence can be heard in quazor like synths and elongated build up before the clappy high hats give way to an intense dancefloor roller sure to have a massive impact on the underground techno scene from London to Miami and back again.

17. AEON019 - Denis Horvat - Apart (Original Mix)

AEON019 - Denis Horvat - Apart (Original Mix)

Alex Niggemann’s AEON label mirrors the peak time DJs sets that the supremely talented Berliner plays, staying focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless house and techno, updating it and creating new boundless possibilities for the future. Since launching the label in 2013 Alex has been gradually building a family of like-minded creative individuals to keep the AEON ethos moving ever forward. This time it’s AEON 19, and yet another melodic milestone in which Niggemann welcomes back Denis Horvat to lead us on a journey into the territory of ambient, driving techno. Achiev- ing two original tracks, and a remix to suite his ever-growing trademark of deep, melodic sounds, Denis again showcases the true quality of what Alex’s label stands for. ‘Apart’ is a dark and eerie track that combines pulsing me- lodic synths with a dissonant array of percussion and FX. The track forever progresses, winding its way upward and downward throughout, with a defining change in atmospher- ics halfway through his electronic industrial fused journey. Along with the original by Denis, Hyenah gives us his own spin on the dark fused sounds of Niggemann’s imprint. Whilst following a similar driving, moody groove, he welcomes a fresh element of tribal grooves, along with a lighter array of pads and stabs that gives listeners a whole new approach to that of the original mix. As with previous releases, it is customary with AEON releas- es, that the B-Side, in this case ‘Cougar’, takes things into deeper territory, with a rolling bass line and a deep percussive groove. Accompanied by sharp white syncopated hats, and a mesmerizing arpreggiated synth, this track certainly main- tains to build on the foundation in which Denis strives to work towards with his style and sound. AEON is a home to cutting-edge artists who are bold enough to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. AEON stands for people who walk their own path, who dance just the way they feel, celebrating and being passionate about what they do without following hype, or rules, or trends.

18. Denis Horvat - Patchouli

Denis Horvat - Patchouli

Lost Tapes Vol.2 is a new various artists release from Alex Niggemann and his lovingly curated AEON AUDIO. The imprint’s second versatile 8- track collection showcases an assortment of regular members of the label family and introduces some exciting new friends. Both a reunion and step forward for the exceptional talent this unique label has been nourishing, Lost Tapes Vol.2 is eight tracks of flawlessly produced electronic music. Artists include TVA, Denis Horvat and Speaking Minds – already label regulars – alongside Alex himself and some ferociously talented debutantes. Opening track - the beautiful beatless ‘Andrea’ – comes courtesy of TVA, the Italian ex-pat duo of Danilo Pascale and Marco Mollo (now based in Sydney). Copenhagen’s Denis Horvat provides the gently pulsing ‘Patchouli’ - a fragrant blend of switching melodic and dissonant elements as it layers atmospheric excellence over a deep, ever-evolving, percussive groove. Speaking Minds return to AEON with ‘Space Teleportation’, in which heart-melting melodies rise over teasing acidic motifs on a seriously dirty, low-slung percussive groove. In perfect contrast, Alex’s own contribution is a masterclass in subtle genius, as he creates another landmark voyage into the realms of peak-time techno with his distinct emotive edge, building a swirling, deeply delicious energy throughout ‘Serenity’. The irresistible, exotic, hypnotic pulse of ‘Mannequin’, built around distinctive layers of intricate, melody rich percussion, is a wondrous debut AEON appearance. This time, the name to note is Radeckt aka Thomas Dieckmann, another super-talented creator from the hotbed current Copenhagen scene. Some remarkable Italian talent is also on display as Venetian DJ/Producer Bastinov makes a welcome return to AEON with ‘Chamal’, where his deft creative skills blend subtlety with energy, the track’s dancefloor-driven attitude is complimented by a deep, brooding arrangement. Lost Tapes Vol.2 debutant, Raffaele Sorrentini aka Rafjus explore the most interesting facets of electronic music. His fine contribution, ‘In Wonderland’, with its speedy, stripped-back, linear percussive energy, draped in dissonant, melodious motifs, provides a starkly resonant moment here. Finally, ‘Birth Of An Island’ is an unforgettable entrance for Hannes Bieger, who is perhaps better known for his immense and highly regarded back catalogue as a mixing and mastering engineer in Berlin. Here, his foray into experimental dub territory is a peerless, controlled display of mood changing electronics - a perfect finale to this exceptional selection of AEON’s creative excellence.
