C&A Summer is the second in a series of retail films directed by Erwin van den IJssel in association with Amsterdam-based agency, Meanwhile. Following on with the motion graphic animated execution, Erwin took inspiration from the C&A summer clothing range to create a highly graphic, sunny story imbued with a colour palette sourced from the brand’s summer themes of folklore/tribal/ethnic prints and embellishments. The retail films will be broadcast in-store and act as a compliment to the bold window displays currently being implemented by C&A worldwide.
Macro is a personal experimental short that explores the tiny moments which comprise our natural world. This meditative, loose-narrative weaves a thread through a lush micro-world, nuanced by the details that we often overlook. This is my first personal short and it was a tremendously enlightening process, creating a 100% CG piece based heavily in the world of macro photography.
Huge thanks to Matthew Morris for the score.

C&A Autumn is the third in a series of retail films directed by Erwin van den IJssel for C&A. Following on with the motion graphic animated execution, Erwin interprets the seasonal theme ‘from outside to inside’ deliberately making the film feel very fluid in terms of motion. The viewer is led by an autumn wind and watches the main female character's day unfold before finally arriving home as the camera comes to a stop - inside her warm, comfortable interior. Erwin decided to develop a modern take on the classic technique of silhouette animation. His visual direction is therefore based on silhouettes, but as we get further into each section of the film, we see more and more layers creating a rich, colourful world. Within the colour scheme, we go from cold, outside colours, to warm inside hues to really feel like we’re entering the comfort of home.
The retail films will be broadcast in-store and act as a compliment to the bold window displays currently being implemented by C&A worldwide.
An abstract exploration into the natural phenomenon that exhibits a repeating pattern at every scale from ocean waves, snow flakes, crystals and the rings of Saturn. Illustrated through the illusions of ink in water, and the complex formations it creates.
All shots consist of either Ink and ice or one of the other, each substance was placed in science beaker with chilled water. The beaker was confined to a small studio setup, I generally had 1 led light on top and various ones on the side, in an in-closed space with black material so no other light got in. Shot with a canon 60mm macro lens on a Canon 700D.

Created for MAC Cosmetics to promote their new line of Wonder Woman inspired cosmetics. Using only 5 illustrations, created by Michael Allred, I was able to tell an energetic and engaging story. I wanted to take the retro comic feel and bring it into a contemporary realm; incorporating 3D comic elements that burst of the page, separating the illustrations in order to create a world with depth, dynamic camera moves, and other visual trickery to keep the action going. The icing on the cake is the cinematic original score by Beta Petrol. This was a lot of fun to work on, from concept to delivery. Thanks again MAC!

Fragments of memories from a inspiring road trip I did with friends back in 2015.
Chapada Diamantina is a region of Bahia state, in the Northeast of Brazil.
We were 6 friends in 2 cars. We visited Lençois ,Palmeiras, Igatu, Iraquara and Vale do Capão(Caetê-Açu).
Canon 6D, Panasonic GH4, a bunch of lenses, Glidecam Hd2000 and one Gopro Hero 4 were involved.
Gidge made this song and it's called Hon. The original mix was 22 minutes long.
A father humiliates his son by parading him through the neighborhood in women's clothing in front of all the other kids on a summer day. The impact of that decision ripples through his family and best friend's lives for years to come. This story is based on true events.

Amsterdam agency newcomers Meanwhile asked the PanicProgram to help them showcase the new denim collection across C&A’s extensive international store network. The resulting motion graphic film directed by Erwin van der IJssel is a vision of all things denim and helps draw attention to the overall new, fresh brand approach being adopted by the evolving retail giant.

PanicProgram director Erwin van den IJssel returns with the fourth retail film in the series promoting fashion giant C&A’s seasonal fashion ranges. Continuing with the inside/outside theme from the Autumn range, C&A introduces a vintage/flea market vibe into their ATL work. To compliment this direction, Erwin decided to develop a collage-style visual direction for the animation using a combination of old materials and textures. This was applied to a narrative about a family in their cosy (vintage inspired) home with each family member leading us seamlessly into little vignettes taking place in the wintery landscape outside…
