It has everything you would expect from the Swindles, some slow burners with a hint of disco, some deep house, some banging club monsters and hey, even some leftfield hip hop jams. The album opens with "B.Y.O.", a track that balances nicely between the DS shuffle and an old school New York style block party. The track is a taste of things to come for the rest of the album, hinting towards a big party vibe, but mellow enough to make it a really interesting listen. The one thing Detroit Swindle are known for best is their knack for picking the right vocals. For Boxed Out, they came up with some perfect partnerships. They recorded "64 Ways" with none other than one of America's finest soul singers: Mayer Hawthorne. Being a fan of their sound he proposed to do a track together in return for a remix on one of his album originals to be released in 2014. "64 Ways" has a lazy shuffle, a bunch of catchy rhodes chords and few well placed layers of synths that give this track a hint of "Detroit Experiment", wrapped up in an almost poppy house jam. One of the other vocal tracks is "Thoughts of She", that effortlessly samples the voice of UK soul singer Alice Russel from the track "Pushin' on" by "The Quantic Soul Orchestra". There's also the gorgeous track "Center of Gravity" that has Berlin based, Ghanese-Canadian soul singer Sandra Amarie on vocals. It's particularly this track that reflects the true spirit of Detroit Swindle's music, a mixture of soul and UK garage meets Detroit house slowed down to a sexy groove with some of their trademark pads and stabs. They pushed themselves to explore different tempos as well, which not only resulted on some slow house burners, but also in 2 hip hop tracks. "For the Love of..." is a homage to the old school sounds of "J. Dilla", "A tribe called Quest" and "The Pharcyde", combining off-beat shuffles, a gritty bass line and a warm cut-up soul sample. "You, Me, Here, Now" is almost a love song, disguised in a s(w)ing-a-long down tempo type of track. It's one of those "one more tune" kinda tunes. So there's hip hop, there's soulful vocals, but It just wouldn't be a Detroit Swindle album without a few bangers on it. "Huh, What!", "Shotgun", "The Fat Rat" and "He's Just This Guy, You Know?" are all relentless dance floor monsters, pushing the tempo to match old school Chicago and New York house cuts from the late 80's and early 90's. With these tracks "Boxed Out" has a great combination of gritty percussions, hot vocals and catchy chords and it is exactly this recipe that has become the much-loved trademark of Detroit Swindle's house universe. The album has a little bit of everything in exactly the right dose, making it both a good listen, and an extremely infectious club album.

(Laszlo Dancehall Exercise) B1 The Fat Rat
 B2 Monkey Wrench
This is the first EP taken from Detroit Swindle’s upcoming debut album “Boxed Out” to be released on the 24th of March 2014 on Dirt Crew Recordings. To heaten up the anticipation on the long awaited debut album by Amsterdam’s finest Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets we give you three tracks from the album as a little teaser to what is to come on the full length. First up is the title track “Huh, What!” a true Detroit Swindle banger that takes us back to pumping Chicago old school house times. Much like their last EP on Dirt Crew that included “John Doe” this new tune will (and we don’t like this expression but can’t think of another way to explain the sheer brutal power of this track) “destroy” the dancefloors! If that wasn’t enough bass in your face we got Leon Vynehall and A1 Bassline under their “Laszlo Dancehall” moniker to rip ‘Huh, What!’ to shreds, resulting in a dark, pounding, straight up jackin’ techno groove. Very raw and edgy, tweaking the original’s key elements perfectly to join the dark groove going on. Definitely not for the faint of heart. The B-Side takes us back to that sweet and deep Detroit Swindle house groove. “The Fat Rat” is much in the style of their last “The Make Up to Break Up” release on their own “Heist” imprint. A groovy percussive and soulful stabby house excursion, Amsterdam to Detroit via New York and back! “Monkey Wrench”, the last track on this EP, is just beautiful and quite possibly one of the highlight down tempo house tracks of the Album. It has this slow groove we all love from the Swindle’s and a combo between the warm sound of the rhodes and the electronic feel of the arpy bass that really makes you love the track more and more each time you play it. Viva Detroit Swindle! And stay tuned for “Boxed Out”, the debut album on CD, 2LP and Digital.

(Jimpster Remix) A2 He’s Just This Guy, You Know? (MRSK Remix) B1 Me, Myself & You (Cuthead Remix) B2 For The Love Of... (Kaytronik’s Nyte Tyme Remix) Release : 27.10.2014 After the very successful “64 Ways” Ep that we released earlier this summer we are ready for more Detroit Swindle “Boxed Out” goodness. The boys have selected some of their fave producers to Lay their hands on four originals from the album. First up is Mr. Freerange himself, Jamie Odell, who delivers a typical deep and fresh sounding reinterpretation of B.Y.O. under his Jimpster moniker. It’s a true house jam as only he can build it wit a great “Live” feeling. This is followed by MRSK from Sweden who you might know from his excellent releases on “Rush Hour”, “Skudge” or “Sushitech”. He boosts the banging “He’s Just This Guy, You Know?” to even higher levels with a raw Disco and Funk infusion. The B side opens with Germany’s finest “Cuthead” who has just released his debut album on “Uncanny Valley” and who has been a huge inspiration to the boys in the past years, we are very glad that he drops his great skills on the smooth “Me, Myself & You” track. Closing off is non other than legendary Baltimore producer Karizma aka Kaytronik, it’s a great honour for us to have such an influential producer on this EP and his take on the album Hip Hop jam “For The Love Of...” is something special. Crystal clear Techno/ House beats with deep subs and the cut up vocal from the original turn this remix into something very special and timeless.

A1 | Alright (DIRT082)

Nachtbraker - Janus EP Release : 22.09.2014 12" Vinyl & Digital Track List: A1 Alright A2 Braun B1 Janus B2 Warme Kachel Digital Only : I Rest My Case F: https://www.facebook.com/nachtbrakermusic Amsterdam based House head Nachtbraker made his first appearance on "Apparel Music" and on Detroit Swindle's infamous HEIST recordings earlier this year with his fantastic "Gute Laune" EP. We are very pleased to welcome him to our Dirt Crew family and to release his new record. Being best known for his smooth and deep production with jazzy and soulful elements he also added these ingredients carefully in these 4 new tracks. The opening track „Alright“ has this great cathy piano hook that progresses though the whole track and gives us that sweet old school House feeling, absolutely funky as hell and a standout track that will have you run to the booth to check what the hell it is... unique in every way. The second track „Braun“ takes us to rougher and more bouncing Hip Hop like beats with spaced out sounds and great Detroit-ish chord progressions. The title track „Janus“ is the true Gem of this release, slow and funky with a tasty Bass Line that gets you moving like crazy once it drops. The whole track teases and teases until it finally opens up to House heaven in the latter part of the track. Last on this wonderful EP is the elegant „Warme Kachel“ or should we say „Hot Oven“ haha.. well the sound is in the title, a very warm and cosy little piece that gets you in the right mood for some heated party action.. either way as warm up track or cool down closing song this beauty will set the right mood for sure. Hope you Dig this little Funky Ep as much as we do!

Kerem Akdag - Expressive (Nachtbraker Sexy Vocal Mix)

If you find something really special you need to listen the first Kerem Akdag’ LP. A research work lasted a year, between Istanbul and New York. Cultures that combine to create a sound unique. The deep meets the 'r & b, the soulful voice of Kerem fly on the streets between tubings of groove. Up and down, garage disco, broken bliss, funk and jazzy, unquestionably cool, haunting vibe. The theme that gives the name to 'Expressive’ has been remixed by the legendary Nachtbraker, the new talent who returns to delight us with a sexy vocal version and a dub mix for clubbin’ lovers only. Waze & Odyssey have also had killer releases on their own imprint „W&O Street tracks“ and with their latest „On the Downlow“ single they stormed the dancefloors and major radio playlists. Waze & Odyssey is best know for their straight up bangin’ House cutz and with these two tracks you get exactly that! „Go Go Go“ is a filterred House banger that takes us back to the early Chicago and French House productions from the mid 90’s. On the other side of this fine 10“ the deeper and more electrofied „We Go Home“ delivers some nasty breakdowns and with it’s manic pitched and ascending lead sound it should shake and stir your brain to get your feet moving for sure. 1. Brame & Hamo | Lamaj (Original Mix)(Preview) | Dirt Crew Recordings

We first introduced these strapping young house aficionados from Sligo, Ireland, with their debut EP as a pair, “Street Urchin”, a little over a year ago. Since then the guys have been busy with a massive release on Detroit Swindle’s label Heist, not to mention their unbridled musical passion lead them to launch their own label Splendor & Squalor beginning of this year, kicking things off with a sell out vinyl only pressing of another four track EP of their own imaginings featuring a hot remix from Session Victim. We’re pleased to share with you their latest creation, the stunning “Lamaj’s Secret EP”. Now, we’re not sure who Lamaj is exactly, but the mystery, funk and raw sex appeal in these four jams certainly has us wondering. First up we meet “Lamaj”, this track drips with delicate melodic samples, jazz tainted drums and bass driven funk galore. We asked our long time friend, Australian Andy Hart, to give it a flip for us on A2. He opened things up, deepened the vibe and brought some bass toms to deliver a final punch. The B-side begins with “Four Lights”, here the guys slow things down a little and remind us of their gift for nostalgia touched soul and groove samples. Finally, “Garlic Fist Pump”, as the name suggests, takes us straight back out to the dance floor, between the dynamic live drums, subtle vocal snips cry to the hip hop Brame & Hamo draw so much inspiration from. Welcome to the House of Lamaj, we hope you’ll take off your coat and stay a while.

Brame already released on Morris Audio before and had a very successful EP together with Klansee last year. Even more new music is on the way for these guys in 2014 on labels like Drumpoet Community and Saints & Sonnets... so this will be a great year for them for sure and we are once again very happy to give you a first debut release on Dirt Crew! “Street Urchin” and “Ghetto Lament” are two fine pieces of classics deep house with dark rolling bass lines and soulful chord progressions, the Piano sample in “Ghetto Lament” is a beautiful reference to the golden era of Disco. As a little extra we have none other than Glenn Astro & Imyrmind on the remix, these guys have been putting out some serious dope stuff lately and this remix is no exception... raw underground house music. The last two tracks on this EP is “Retrospect” on the vinyl and “Fear In Rapture” as digital only track are more straight forward and stripped down stabby groovers with quirky acid lines that work extremely well on the dance floors ... road tested many times already... Brame & Hamo will definitely make big waves with this release and we are happy to welcome them to the Dirt Crew family.

Mayer Hawthorne 03 Me, Myself & You 04 Thoughts of She 05 Monkey Wrench 06 Shotgun 07 Center of Gravity feat. Sandra Amarie 08 For the Love of... 09 The Fat Rat 10 He’s Just This Guy, You Know? 11 Huh, What! 12 F6 13 You, Me, Here, Now The Debut Album by Detroit Swindle.
