From May 2014 to date, the Slow Mo Lounge has been dedicated and instrumental in unearthing quality nu-disco, slow-mo and deep house sounds to a music hungry South Africa. The Slow Mo Lounge is the brainchild of South Africa based DJKongisto, an avid music collector of diverse and equally unique musical taste, with roots in Hip Hop, Nu Jazz, Drum and Bass, Deep and Classic House as well as 70s Disco and RnB. The SML team plays host to resident DJs from different spectrums, they have been carefully chosen and are dedicated to introducing South Africa’s EDM and club-culture to a new sound – specialising mainly in slow-mo house, deep house and nu-disco edits, respectively. The Slow Mo Lounge resident DJs and performers include: The Lazarusman, Deeboi Chiefrocka, Clive Bean, PolyesterVelcro and Martin Mahlatse. Individually, each of them contribute towards the broader sound at large, bringing a rich wealth of musical talent to the table and to each and every event ( including the mixed podcast series of the same name). The Slow Mo Lounge event is hosted by Liziwe Mamthug Kwanini, fondly referred to as the first lady of Slow Mo Lounge, she brings expert knowledge in the art of hosting musically-led events and is the lifeline of the experience respectively, helping to curate the ambience of a world-class event. Because it's Spring, SML has made a comeback with a new look and an official Slow Mo Lounge page found on Facebook. The aim is to keep listeners updated on event dates, new music and best of all disco edits, deep house and the best slow-mo from around the globe (as offered through their quartely podcasts). Their home is none other than Kitcheners – a Johannesburg cross Braamfontein based sub-cultural hub that houses everything musically dynamic, contemporary and artistic. It is the port of call when it comes to tapping into South Africa’s club-going tapestry. In this mix, we feature resident deejay and founder DJKongisto
