Comprised of Luke Koz (guitar, vox), Jess Rees (guitar, keys, vox) and joined by Evan Gill Smith (bass) and Jeff Widner (drums), the band has been honing their craft and chemistry since initially storming listeners with their split single, “Ambulance / Ghost.” Russian Baths now announce the forthcoming release of their debut EP, "Penance," and their signing to Brooklyn-based label Good Eye Records. Incorporating dissonance into traditional song structures, Penance’s aesthetic recalls Big Black's caustic fits, '70s space rock, Chapel Hill's noise pop, Big Muff driven grunge, and the angular arrangements of British post-punk. The breadth of Russian Bath’s scope in sound is marked by the distance and cohesion between singles in the furious, driving “Slenderman” and the elegant thunderstorm that is “Poolhouse.” Stay tuned for more from Russian Baths and be sure to follow them on their social outlets detailed below. "Penance" is out February 23rd and is the fourth release from Good Eye Records.

Pre-order - http://goodeyerecords.bigcartel.com/product/makeunder-great-headless-blank-ep-ger001 Makeunder - http://wearemakeunder.com/ Naytronix - http://naytronix.com/ "'What A Lovely Bandsaw!' describes the weekend where my family held an estate sale to part with my father's tools & belongings, so my mother could pay off her liens and put the home on the market. We watched hundreds of acquaintances and strangers rummage through every box, corner and cabinet, while we struggled to put a price on things my mother never thought she'd have to sell: finished works of art, handmade furniture, gouges, chisels, saws, a menagerie of power tools. Some we hardly understood how to value, others were important set pieces in my childhood memories. My parents never felt like they belonged in Texas and my father likened their mortgage to a prison sentence. They would have been happy to abandon the house and get the hell out of San Antonio for good. In the end, however, it was impossible not to feel overwhelmed as the home quickly disappeared, piece by piece, before we even had a chance to come to terms with everything we'd lost." - Makeunder's Hamilton Ulmer http://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2015/07/09/417727920/read-the-overwhelming-tragic-story-of-makeunders-great-headless-blank-ep

13. Language - "Into and out Of"

Language -

"Game Piece," the second single off of Language's new EP, "Plymouth," out May 18th via Good Eye Records. Follow: Facebook: bit.ly/FB-Language Spotify: bit.ly/Spotify-Language ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When Omar Afzaal (guitar, vox) woke up the morning of his wedding, he already knew it would be the biggest day of his life up until that point. What he didn’t know is that he would meet Charles Sloan (bass, vox) that same day. The two would go on to play music together in 2013, resulting in some demos. It was when Afzaal and Sloan turned to Craigslist to find a drummer, eventually linking up with Wes Black, that the brotherhood of Language was born. Following two self-released EPs, the band now announces their signing to Brooklyn-based label Good Eye Records and their forthcoming "Plymouth" EP. Language has been something of a best kept secret in the live music landscape in NYC. Their experimental while unflinching stylings are the product of three individual talents committed to their artistry, enjoying the hell out of playing with each other the whole way. Their buzzy status earned them a support for Shame in late 2017, with "Plymouth" set to bring them to the attention of the music-enjoying populace at large. Stay tuned for more from Language and be sure to follow them on their social outlets detailed below. "Plymouth" is out May 18th and is the sixth release from Good Eye Records.

18. Andy Cook - "Swirl"

Andy Cook -

"Swirl," the first single off of Andy Cook's new EP, "Modern Man," out April 13th via Good Eye Records. Follow: Facebook: bit.ly/FB-AndyCook Spotify: bit.ly/Spotify-AndyCook ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What’s a man, anyway? It’s the central question at the heart of Minnesota-based songwriter Andy Cook’s new EP "Modern Man"—a 22-minute indie-rock/Americana ride that stokes twinges of nostalgia with jangly guitars, articulate synth lines and driving percussion. The EP follows Cook digging into life in this hyper-digital age as the music harkens back to classic American songwriters. "Modern Man" takes a hard look at the present in its lyric-driven, sonically-rich landscape. “We’re living in a wicked world, where nobody believes anything they’ve heard…just a picture of a pretty face, with lonely eyes and a made-up grace,” we hear over a bouncing guitar line in the lead track “Swirl”—a song reminiscent of Real Estate or Kurt Vile, and that oscillates between pessimism of social media-curated life and optimism that we can be happy in our own shoes. These observations are less criticism than they are experience, from the point of view of an artist who is finding his own voice and a comfort in presenting this music without trying to be something he’s not. Cook has long felt like someone who almost fits in, but not quite—stuck between who he wants to be, the pressures and images surrounding us daily, and the desire to be “in” while still being individual. “These songs might mean something totally different to listeners than they do to me - but they mean something, and that’s what matters most,” Cook says. In this way, "Modern Man" is at once personal and made for peers in modern society. “I’m writing about experiences we live every day. There’s a kid inside of us and a mirror in front, and we need to ask them both questions if we’re going to figure out who we want to be.” After all, what’s a man, anyway? Stay tuned for more from Andy Cook and be sure to catch him at an upcoming performance detailed below. "Modern Man" is out April 13th and is the fifth release from Good Eye Records.
