2001 - Pete Davis - And so you exist no more.

This is an example of how my recordings have progressed in the past ten years. The first version was written in 2001 when I first got my digital 16-track recorder for Christmas, the second was re-recorded in 2005 after I got my first condenser microphone and an Antares auto-tune unit (which I no longer use), and the final is from 2011, now that I really know what I'm doing.

Skinnerbox - Fertile Invalids (Preview)

New Darkroom Dubs Limited Edition Vinyl. Skinnerbox debut single on Darkroom Dubs. [Out 9th Dec (v) & 16th Dec (d)] Info & DJ Feedback: Busking really is next-level in Berlin, with the acoustic guitar replaced by the laptop, drum machine and Minimoog, all powered by a car battery. It was this thrown together setup that first introduced the world to Skinnerbox as Iftah Gabbai and Olaf Hilgenfeld took their leftfield, jazzy attitude and improvised genre-bridging music to the streets of Berlin for impromptu jam sessions. It wasn't long before Skinnerbox were rocking the floors of Ritter Butzke and Wilde Renate and getting their music pressed to the black gold was surely the next step. Releases on TonKind, Neopren and Bar25 Records followed before the guys were signed to Bpitch Control with their single, Anapol. 2012 saw the release of this follow-up single for the label, God Is Fading and in January of this year the guys lent their remix talents to The Silence Kills by fellow Bpitch artist, Dillon. Today Skinnerbox make their Darkroom Dubs debut with Fertile Invalids. They have described their own music as infusing soul, breaking house, hard-edged techno, jazz and ambient electronica futurism. This three track ep encompasses all of the above and more and proves just what an exciting addition this live act are to the Darkroom Dubs roster. Simon Garcia - This is absolutely brilliant, three ACE tracks, Amazing!! Sasse - This is an excellent release guys, you have my plays and support!! Pale is my fav. Pezzner - This is some next level house. Sese and Xsilonome will get plenty of club play here. Nice work! Ramon Tapia - You know I'm liking the weirdness of Xsilonome.. will try it. Love it! Danny Howells - Utter class again from such a class label, in the box straight away!! Kiki - Sese sounds VERY special to me!! Full support... Wide Awake

People are filling the streets, infecting the air that we breathe. We've waited long enough to realize that we won't survive. Clenching my hands in your hair, so frigid the fold starts to tear. Icicles hanging down. We've lost touch; everything falls apart. We can't rush forward so unprepared. Warriors born on the field today. When it's won, cowards will run, but heroes will stay. (The bravest of all have given everything they could to keep this dream from ending so soon. We dream to fight, but mostly we're wide awake.) Everyone down on the floor, keep still and nobody gets hurt. Don't make any sudden moves and we'll let you go peacefully. Attention this is the police, surrounding and armed to the teeth, here to negotiate. Fight fire with fire. Please, these people all have families. Don't you agree that this is much more trouble than it's worth, and you'll never see the daylight again. So please put it down. Get up off the ground and file out. Give it up. When we came there was nothing left past the rubble and grief for newborn warriors slain and heroes made.
