A2. Yam Who? - Find Out
B1. Get Down Edits - Sweet Stuff (Vinyl Exclusive)
B2. Coutel - Stop That
Danny Worrall‘s Masterworks Music finally gets around to its first physical release and in time for summer no less! For this first EP the label have cherry picked the highlights from their digital compilation and given them the vinyl release they always deserved, alongside a couple of choice unreleased cuts. Booming out of the A1 in a burst of cowbell, laser fire and filter swept magic is Dr Packer's "Sunshine" a block rocking nu disco version of the timeless Rocker's Revenge classic, which incorporates elements of the Vocal, Accapella and Dub mix. On the A2, Yam Who? come through with a deep discoid jam ornamented with tasty flute licks, smooth vocals and airy keys. The original instrumentation and groove is still present and correct, just beefed up by some additional percussion and well aimed frequencies.
Get Down Edits open the B-side with the steady throb of "Sweet Stuff", a low slung lovers groove with sweet, almost whispered vocals and a killer bassline. It falls to Coutel to close the package out with the cinematic stomp of "Stop That", a superb builder which incorporates elements of Italo, boogie and proto house on the way to its diva vocalled peak! The new label has already released a sturdy batch of modern disco and house music and has upcoming EP's in the pipeline from the likes of Dave Gerrard, Rayko, Queen & Disco and P-Sol to be on the lookout for.
The long awaited Masterworks Vol. 2 is finally here and what a treat we have for you all.
This has taken us quite some time to put together and the amount of talent on show is unbelievable.
Available to buy from Monday 25th July exclusive to Juno Download and then Traxsource & Beatport 2 weeks after.
This really does have something for everybody and we really hope you enjoy it.
As we come to the close of another year, it’s always a fine time to reflect on what matters most…music, obviously, is at the top of the list for us hear at Masterworks. We’ve had a hell of trip around the sun these past 12 months with lots of lovely tunes pushed out to the world to keep the hands clapping and the hips shaking. It’s a honour really for us to do what we do and we’d like to thank all the fans out there for the continuous support.
We have one final trick up our sleeve as we 2016 wraps up and we really hope you find as much joy in it as we had putting it together. January landed with a splash and the inaugural outing of ‘The Masters Series…” a lovely little, vinyl-only series of 10” wax featuring some of our favourite folks in the scene. Volume’s 1 and 2 were supplied by our mates at Closed Paradise and OOFT! and it’s an absolute joy for us to welcome The Silver Rider into the fold with Volume 3. Having joined us a few times before on Bag Of Tricks and Masterworks Vol. 2 compilations, it was a no-brainer when The Rider shot over a fresh batch of tunes for us to peep. We settled on the A-side with “Another Day,” a groovy, low-slung number with 808’s, Moog leads and gorgeous Rhodes-piano that just melts away any negative vibes. On the B-Side, “Eazy Breezy” was an ideal compliment with its guitar-laden groove and soulful vocals… this one is sure to soundtrack many a day party in the new year!
In addition to everything just mentioned, The Silver Rider also found some time to put together a lovely guest mix to keep everyone dancing straight into the new year. Jam packed of funky baselines, sample heavy joints and forthcoming tunes from hot-bed labels like Better Listen, FHUO, Whiskey Pickle and Swedish Brandy… The Silver Rider laces an hour long mix that comes just in time for the giving season. Cheers to one and all!
Very exited to announce that on Saturday 29th July we will be hosting 53 Degrees North Leeds 1st Birthday Party.

Yam Who?'s Midnight Riot label is one of the big daddies of the current nu-disco scene. His eponymous compilation series are known for their ridiculously high levels of quality and this latest one is no different - there's a whopping 24 tracks to choose from. Strangely the label boss doesn't seem to appear this time round but we do get the silky electro-house of Digital Human's "You're My Last Chance", the killer cyborg electro-funk of 80s Child's "Contagious" and the other-worldly deep-jacking soul of "U Know How To Love Me".
Next up on Masterworks Music is the legendary scalpel king known as Dr Packer, with his 3rd e.p for the label this one is shaping up to be his best yet and we can't wait to unleash it.
Monday 6th June is the date you need to lock down coz this ones gonna go massive and has already had early support from Dimitri From Paris, John Morales and more ……..
As we trace our steps into the midst of the party season, Masterworks bestow a gift upon the hard working DJ in the form of a four track edit EP purpose built for demolishing dancefloors. Up first, Detroit's prodigal Pontchartrain gets deep into the loops and filters with the shimmering disco house brilliance of "No Romance". This killer arrangement of Theo Vaness' Prelude classic balances hands in the air string segments with percussive breakdowns perfect for the heads down crew. Next up, Editor's Kutz boss Vinyladdicted delivers a deep and dubbed out rework of Roni Griffith's Bobby O produced masterpiece "Love Is The Drug". Focusing on that killer sequenced bassline, Vinyladdicted cuts out the slightly cheesy choral segments in favour of vocal snippets, Flirts-style synth licks and robotic chug. Kicking off the flip in head nodding, finger popping style, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee get funky with the slo-mo strut of "Do It 2 Nite". From sleazy slap bass to freeki funk organ, this bad boys got the lot, coming out the speakers like a rough and ready disco house twist on Commodores classic "Brick House". Bringing the curtain down with a bang, Derry's Queen & Disco get deep down and funky with the boogie groove of "Just As Long As You", a mid tempo roller if ever I've heard one. Four killer cuts on one bargain wax, it's essential to your festive season as mince pies and The Great Escape.

Masterworks Music salutes you!!!
Masterworks A&R mastery continues on their third release as The Silver Rider follows in the footsteps of Closed Paradise and Ooft, rocking us properly with two sweet sample tracks. Operating out of his Texas stronghold, The Silver Rider has done damage for Smokecloud, Street Edits and Special Edition, and this bad boy is as good as any of those wax classics. A-side offering "Another Day" is all about the dancefloor, locking a hyper-looped boogie groove into a hypnotic house rhythm to keep the club at a sulty simmer. Occasional vocal snippets and blasts of squelching bass pull your attention this way and that, before the track opens out wonderfully with a Prelude style synth riff. All good. The B-side belongs to the beach bars, deck chairs and BBQs - savouring the summer all year long as the name suggests. That's right, "Eazy Breezy" is a sunkissed collage of nimble guitar riffs, chirping vocal samples and swooning synth bizznizz, all set to a buttery groove. With a beautiful soul vocal making a stunning second half appearance, this is more or less the perfect summer jam, so keep it in mind for the coming months.

Masterworks music launch a new series of 10" special editions with this sublime 10" from rising French star Closed Paradise. If you've kept you ear and eye on this cat, you'll know that his thing is groovy, dancefloor magic which shakes its shit right across the house/disco/Balearic spectrum. This latest missive is no exception, and A-side cut "Your Love I'm Gonna Take" is a lesson in sampler use for the rest of us. The producer selects some choice cuts from a soulful strutter and lays them out around a chunky sunset house bassline, tweaking the EQ and teasing the loops out into many a joyful crescendo. Jazzy piano work, coastal guitar licks and a warm sound make this a future Adriatic classic. B-side banger "The Vision" hits us with a headnodding, slo-mo rhythm, cycling into the kind of robotic boogie chugger you'd expect to blow the roof off at El Diablo's. If you dig on Sleazy Beats, early Wolf Music or Jisco, then this is most certainly your jam!
