My Sweet Lord (cover George Harrison, extended version)

--------------------------------------------------------- I always wanted to record My Sweet Lord, but I was worried about two things: the slide guitar harmonies and the choir. There was no way to cheat at it, so I practiced the slide guitar a lot and I built up five different voices for the choir (the neighbors probably wondered after "Hallelujah" and "Hare Krishna" over and over again). Hope you like it. This recording was made with 25 tracks (!): i.e. 1 vocal+7 choir, 5 guitars, 4 slide guitars, Hammond, Rhodes, Base and Drums/Percussion. --------------------------------------------------------------- Lyrics: Slide intro My sweet lord - Hm, my lord - Hm, my lord I really want to see you - Really want to be with you Really want to see you lord - But it takes so long, my lord My sweet lord - Hm, my lord - Hm, my lord I really want to know you - Really want to go with you Really want to show you lord - That it won't take long, my lord (hallelujah) My sweet lord (hallelujah) - Hm, my lord (hallelujah) - My, my sweet lord (hallelujah) I really want to see you - Really want to see you Really want to see you, lord - Really want to see you, lord But it takes so long, my lord (hallelujah) M-My sweet lord (hallelujah) - Hm, my lord (hallelujah) - My, my, my, my lord (hallelujah) I really want to know you (hallelujah) - Really want to go with you (hallelujah) Really want to show you lord (ooh) - That it won't take long, my lord (ooh) Hmm (hallelujah) - My sweet lord (hallelujah) - My, my, my, lord (hallelujah) Slide solo Hm, my lord (hare krishna) - My, my, my lord (hare krishna) Oh (krishna, krishna) - Oh-uuh-uh my Lord (hare hare) Now, I really want to see you (hare rama) - Really want to be with you (hare rama) Really want to see you lord (aaah) - But it takes so long, my lord (hallelujah) - Hm, my lord (hallelujah) My, my, my lord (hare krishna) - Hmm (hare krishna) My sweet lord (krishna krishna) - Hmm (hare hare) Hm, hm (Gurur Brahma) - Ooh (Gurur Vishnu) Ohoh (Gurur Devo) - Hm, hm (Maheshwara) My sweet lord (Gurur Sakshaat) - My my my my lord (Parabrahma) My, my, my lord (Tasmayi Shree) - Mmm (Guruve Namah) My sweet lord (Hare Rama) (hare krishna) My sweet lord (hare krishna) My sweet lord (krishna krishna) - My lord (hare hare) Slide outro

New version with my friend´s Levin banjo from 1930:s added. The "silver hammer" is two sledge hammers banged together :-) First time ever I raised the key for a Beatles song, from D to E sharp. A "Daddy song" from Paul with 40´s Music Hall inspiration. According to me, they are 1) When I´m 64, 2) Honey Pie, 3) Martha my Dear, 4) Your Mother Shold Know 5) Maxwells Silver Hammer and 6) You Gave Me Your Answer (Wings). --------------------- Instruments: Acoustic guitars, ukuleles, banjos, violine bass, tambourine and drums. Alesis synth: Rhodes, piano, harmonica. Two sledge hammers. Mixed in Logic Pro X. --------------------- Joan was quizzical, studied pataphysical - Science in the home Late nights all alone with a test-tube ohh oh oh oh Maxwell Edison majoring in medicine - Calls her on the phone Can I take you out to the pictures, Joan? But as she's getting ready to go A knock comes on the door Bang, bang, Maxwell's silver hammer Came down upon her head Bang, bang, Maxwell's silver hammer Made sure that she was dead Back in school again Maxwell plays the fool again - Teacher gets annoyed Wishing to avoid an unpleasant scene She tells Max to stay when the class has gone away - So he waits behind Writing 50 times "I must not be so" oh oh oh But when she turns her back on the boy He creeps up from behind Bang, bang, Maxwell's silver hammer Came down upon her head Bang, bang, Maxwell's silver hammer Made sure that she was dead P.C. Cheek to cheek (cover Fred Astaire)

New version 2015, added some brass. New mix 2016. "Cheek to Cheek" is a song written by Irving Berlin in 1935, for the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie Top Hat (1935). In the movie, Astaire sings the song to Rogers as they dance. The song was nominated for the Best Song Academy Award for 1936. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Heaven, I'm in Heaven And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek Heaven, I'm in Heaven And the cares that hang around me thro' the week Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak When we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek Oh! I love to climb a mountain And to reach the highest peak But it doesn't thrill me half as much As dancing cheek to cheek Oh! I love to go out fishing In a river or a creek But I don't enjoy it half as much As dancing cheek to cheek Dance with me I want my arm about you The charm about you Will carry me - thro' to Heaven Heaven - I'm in Heaven And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek

Layla (cover Eric Clapton)

New version 2016: new bass, drums and vocals. Still no slide efforts. History: my wife went shopping at IKEA and I made this recording in about five hours - but the mixing took at least six hours.. :-) No backgrounds if you suspected that, I´m playing it all. Clapton originally wrote "Layla" as a ballad, with lyrics describing his unanswered love for Pattie Boyd. The recording consisted of six guitar tracks: a rhythm track by Clapton, three tracks of harmonies played by Clapton against the main riff, a track of slide guitar by Allman, and one track with both Allman and Clapton playing duplicate solos. (I made five guitar tracks with my Les Paul, but so far no slide guitar - MR) Shortly afterward, Clapton returned to the studio, where he heard Gordon playing a piano piece he had composed separately. Clapton, impressed by the piece, convinced Gordon to allow it to be used as part of the song."Layla's" second movement was recorded roughly a week after the first, with Gordon playing his piano part, Clapton playing acoustic guitar and slide guitar, and Allman playing electric and bottleneck slide guitar. -------------------------------------------------------------------- What'll you do when you get lonely And nobody's waiting by your side? You've been running and hiding much too long. You know it's just your foolish pride. Layla, you've got me on my knees. Layla, I'm begging, darling please. Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind. I tried to give you consolation When your old man had let you down. Like a fool, I fell in love with you, Turned my whole world upside down. Chorus Let's make the best of the situation Before I finally go insane. Please don't say we'll never find a way And tell me all my love's in vain. Chorus Chorus --------------------------------------------------------------------

Imagine (cover John Lennon)

My work colleague and friend Mats P. in Stockholm asked if I could record a version of John Lennon's "Imagine" but I protested. You just can not record something so famous, it would be like recording a cover of "Yesterday". It can not be done better than the original. However, my wife went to Örebro and shopped so OK then, I went down to the basement and had a try. Hope you enjoy it. Version #2 darker pianos, new vocals. Version #3 and #4 mixed with Logic X. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Imagine there's no heaven - It's easy if you try No hell below us - Above us only sky Imagine all the people - Living for today Imagine there's no countries - It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for - And no religion too Imagine all the people - Living life in peace You may say I'm a dreamer - But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us - And the world will be as one Imagine no possessions - I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger - A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people - Sharing all the world You may say I'm a dreamer - But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us - And the world will live as one

Here Comes the Sun (cover Beatles)

Remixed 2015. George Harrison wrote the song on an acoustic guitar in a garden when he was at his friend Eric Clapton's house in Ewhurst, Surrey. It was written about George being glad to be away from legal issues and Apple, which were both stifling the band's creativity at the time. In this song, Harrison first got to use a Moog synthesizer, a then-new keyboard invented by Robert Moog. In this recording I used my Alesis keyboard. Because he had recently suffered a car accident with Yoko, John does not appear on this song. The song was first recorded on July 7, 1969, when thirteen takes of the basic track were recorded, including acoustic guitar, guide vocal, bass, and drums. George spent an hour at the end of this session rerecording his acoustic guitar part. On July 8, George recorded his lead vocals and Paul recorded two backing vocal parts. On July 16, they overdubbed handclaps and harmonium. The orchestra, whose names are not known, were recorded on August 15. On August 19, George taped his Moog part, finishing the song. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Here comes the sun, here comes the sun - And I say it's all right Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun - And I say it's all right Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun - And I say it's all right Sun, sun, sun, here it comes (x5) Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun, here comes the sun - And I say it's all right Here comes the sun, here comes the sun It's all right, it's all right ---------------------------------------------------------------------

All those years ago (cover George Harrison)

Harrison originally wrote the song with different lyrics for Ringo Starr to record. Although he recorded it, Starr felt the vocal was too high for his range and he did not like the words. Harrison took the track back and, after Lennon's death, the lyrics were changed to reflect a tribute to Harrison's lost friend and colleague, John Lennon. Harrison and Starr recorded the song at Harrison's Friar Park studios between 19 November 1980 and 25 November 1980. After Lennon's death the following month, Harrison removed Starr's vocals (but left Starr's drumming track) and recorded his own vocals with rewritten lyrics honouring Lennon. McCartney, his wife Linda and their Wings bandmate Denny Laine visited Friar Park to record backing vocals. The lineup was rounded out by Al Kooper on keyboards. Harrison's first #1 on this chart as a solo artist.

Badge (cover Eric Clapton/George Harrison)

Recorded in 2014, the solo guitar I´m using is a Fender Jazzmaster. "Badge" is a song performed by Cream, written by Eric Clapton and George Harrison. It was included as a track on Cream's final album, Goodbye. "Badge" was a minor hit in the U.S., peaking at #60 on Billboard's Hot 100 after its release as a single in April 1969.[The single was much more successful in the United Kingdom, where it reached #18. "Badge" was originally an untitled track. The only discernible word on the page was "bridge" (indicating the song's bridge section). Due to Harrison's handwriting, however, Clapton misread it as "badge" — and the song was titled soon thereafter. • Eric Clapton – lead guitar and vocals • Jack Bruce – bass guitar and backing vocals • Ginger Baker – drums • Felix Pappalardi – piano and mellotron • George Harrison (credited, for contractual reasons, as "L'Angelo Misterioso") – rhythm guitar ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thinkin' 'bout the times you drove in my car. Thinkin' that I might have drove you too far. And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table. I told you not to wander 'round in the dark. I told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park. Then I told you 'bout our kid, now he's married to mabel. Yes, I told you that the light goes up and down. Don't you notice how the wheel goes 'round? And you better pick yourself up from the ground Before they bring the curtain down, Yes, before they bring the curtain down. In my version: Thinkin' 'bout the times you drove in my car. Thinkin' that I might have drove you too far. And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table. Talkin' 'bout a girl that looks quite like you. She didn't have the time to wait in the queue. She cried away her life since she fell off the cradle. Solo (my version only)

När vi gräver Guld i USA (cover GES)

Fight song for the Swedish soccer team in 1994 before we got the bronze medal in the U.S. World Cup in Football. The title means "when we dig gold in the United States", but we never got the gold medal. But a very good achievement by little Sweden. Brazil won the game by the way, more than 20 years ago. Recorded on a 4-track Portastudio about 1996. The Lyrics: (When we dig gold in the U.S.) Although we have run a thousand miles So, we will run another thousand more (We hear a voice that´s calling) And when we've come all the way back home Let's start over again (We hear a voice that´s calling) It says: We are finally on the road again It says: It's time to leave away By air and sea To all the girls we have forsaken To all of you who believed In everything that we have done Will you follow us to the west? To all those who crossed the Atlantic Demonstrated that it is possible The world is watching all the way from New Delhi to Moscow When we dig gold in the U.S. So many tried and disappeared But we have proved that we can (And we have everything to gain) For every house and apartment Are the people who know (And we have everything to gain) The girls have flowers in their hair It says all the boys on the line Together we are unbeatable To all the girls we have forsaken To all of you who believed In everything that we have done Will you come with us to the west? To all those who crossed the Atlantic Demonstrated that it is possible The world is watching all the way from New Delhi to Moscow When we dig gold in the U.S. To all the girls we have forsaken To all of you who believe In everything that we have done Will you come with us to the west? To all those who crossed the Atlantic Demonstrated that it is possible The world is watching all the way from New Delhi to Moscow (we won´t come home until we have what want) When we dig gold in the U.S. (Whistling) Digging gold in the U.S. - repeat
