4. The Coven S3E4: The Question of Queerbaiting

The Coven S3E4: The Question of Queerbaiting

We're back witches! This week we talk about the end of an era- Teen Wolf has officially come to an end. While the popular MTV show may be over (although it will continue in the form of a podcast) it's legacy as a show of ships will live on. But these ships raise many interesting questions about queerbaiting, or when a show teases that a couple characters may be LGBTQ+ with no intention of actually exploring that plot. And Teen Wolf isn't the only show to blame; shows like Supernatural, Sherlock, Merlin, and many more fall into this trap. Hear what we have to say about this topic on this episode of The Coven! 12. The Wonder Years: S3E7: The Family Car And S3E10: Rock N' Roll

The Wonder Years: S3E7: The Family Car And S3E10: Rock N' Roll

Hey Wonderlings, I want to apologize for the missing intro. Hello again Wonderlings, welcome to another episode of Looking Back On My Wonder Years A Wonder Years Podcast. I’m your host Angela Bowen and today I’ll be discussing S3E7: The Family Car which originally aired on November 21, 1989 and S3E10: Rock n’ Roll which originally aired in the new year on January 2, 1990. We are officially in the 90’s guys. I was 7 when this episode aired. I hope you’re all having a great weekend! In S3E7: The Family Car The Arnold Family's car seems to be on it's last legs, but Dad just can't bring himself around to buy a new car for the family. In S3E10: Rock n’ Roll New student Larry Beeman turns Kevin on to the wonders of rock and roll. Pretty soon, Kevin purchases his own guitar and is rocking with Larry and his band. Join me next Sunday November 5 for S3E12: The Powers That Be which aired on January 23, 1990. In this episode Grandpa Arnold visits the family and gives Kevin a puppy as a gift, but both Kevin and the pup get caught up in the middle of tensions between Jack Arnold and his father. And in S3E13: She, My Friend and I which aired on February 6, 1990 Paul and his girlfriend Carla have a falling out. Wanting to make his friend feel better, Kevin offers to set Paul up with Winnie. At first Kevin is happy about the idea, but after awhile, he begins to wonder if he's made a mistake. Here is the Listener Question for S3E12: The Powers That Be: Do you remember you your family first welcomed a new furry family member? What are your memories? What was his or her name? This can be for adults too, Welcoming a new pet into your life. Is it different taking full responsibility as an adult versus when you were a child and only had partial responsibility? Here’s the Listener Question for S3E13: She, My Friend and I. Did you and your friend ever like the same person romantically? How did you work it out? Email me your comments at [email protected] all you other listeners out there, thanks again for listening. 13. The Wonder Years: S3E12 The Powers That Be

The Wonder Years: S3E12 The Powers That Be

Hey there Wonderlings, Hope you’re having a good Monday. Let’s get into some furry cuteness this episode with the introduction of the newest Arnold family member Buster in S3E12: The Powers That Be which aired on January 23, 1990. In this episode Grandpa Arnold visits the family and gives Kevin a puppy as a gift, but both Kevin and the pup get caught up in the middle of tensions between Jack Arnold and his father. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving it 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals: 1. For the introduction of Buster. 2. For the introduction of Holly Jolly Grandpa even though he stepped on Jack’s toes a lot which ultimately lead to an uncomfortable shouting match at the table causing the rest of the family to vacate. 3. For Kevin learning how hard it is to raise a puppy. 4. Kevin giving up the puppy in hopes of mending the rift between his father and grandfather. 5. For Jack finally accepting the puppy and telling Kevin. “I think we need a dog”. My Quote of the Show: Narrator: And for some reason, maybe the way he said it, I began to understand. He wasn't giving me an order. My dad, was asking me for help. That morning, as I stood with the man who was my father... The son of my grandfather, the man who would one day be the grandfather of my sons...I realized something. That not all gifts are simple. That some battles are fought out of love. My Wonderling Words of Wisdom: Sure we only all love puppies, the cuteness, the softness, that puppy breath, but we also know how much work it is to raise them financially along with the mental and physical exhaustion of training them and housebreaking them. Now I don’t know this personally because as an adult I’ve never raised a puppy before but hope to one day. That all being said please take this all in to consideration never gift a pet especially a dog unless you know the person in question you’re giving it to is ready to financially accept the responsibility and are ready to have one in their life. Join me later this week when I review S2E13: She, My Friend and I which aired on February 6, 1990. In this episode Paul and his girlfriend Carla have a falling out. Wanting to make his friend feel better, Kevin offers to set Paul up with Winnie. At first Kevin is happy about the idea, but after awhile, he begins to wonder if he's made a mistake. Here’s the Listener Question for S3E13: She, My Friend and I. Did you and your friend ever like the same person romantically? How did you work it out? 14. PREMIERE : Javi Frias - Move To The Groove

PREMIERE : Javi Frias - Move To The Groove

*Read more: http://boltingbits.com/javi-frias-move-to-the-groove/ *Watch on Youtube: https://youtu.be/kD8aKqequhU *Pre-order : http://bit.ly/2xw3E9N Whenever my musically-inclined mates and I chat about dance music, there's a question that rears its head time and time again, 'why on earth isn't there enough modern day disco being made?!' Meet a man whose directly challenging that train of thought, Javi Frias (@javi-frias). Hailing from Madrid, Javi lives and breaths boogie. Running his very own NightShift Records by day and permeating dance floors in the eve, I speculate this Spaniard leads one very busy and delightful life. After listening through this fellows catalogue, I'd love to get myself down to the Marula Café in his hometown. Every Friday night Frias runs the DISCOTIZER club night, hosting the likes of Red Greg, Dan Shake and Medlar. After his previous 7'' went number 1 in online sales at Juno Records, Javi's back in business with his 'Move To The Groove' EP, the second press to wear his very own NightShift owl logo. Stoking the fire from the get go comes 'Tender Feeling', a smashing loop of guitar and hi-hats take hold early, quickly joined by a crooning vocal sample and an almost Bee Gees-esque cry. A deliberate attention seeker and for my mind the pick of the crop (so be sure to chase it down). The tune we have the pleasure of premiering is A2 - 'Move to the Groove'. A major feature of Frias' work is funked out electric guitar and on this number it's in full flight. After sliding in a very catchy phrase 'Dance, get down...feel the groove!' we're already well on our way to dance delirium. This is the sort of audio I'd imagine getting rinsed at a wedding reception when all attendees are well on their way to a stinking hangover. Turning to the B side, we have 'Supah Stah', a record any DJ with decent taste would drop the needle on as their set's coming to a close. This one's probably the most soulful on the EP, full of gospel vocal snippets and groovy ad-libs. Listen closely to 'Supah Stah' as it preaches a beautiful message - simply be yourself and don't let anyone else tell you any different because we're all superstars in our own right! And damn, that's definitely worth celebrating! The curtain closer, 'Swahili Dance' (as the name suggests) is an African enthused bongo party. Being an entirely instrumental piece, Javi has certainly thought this one through, producing a kaleidoscope of trumpets, whistles and twanged out bass notes. As a native of Madrid, it's always great to hear a European working together a track that sounds authentically tribal in nature. If any African nation happened to clinch the World Cup, this would be a fitting anthem for the after-party. After listening through 'Move to the Groove' EP it's pretty hard to argue against the fact that disco is the most joyous genre on earth. So get happy with Javi!
