In this video, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi continues to cover the assassination of Uthman Ibn 'Affan [r] by discussing the socio-political changes facing the Muslims and the various complaints lodged against the great khalifa. A summary of topics covered are: -The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) predicted the trials between the companions -Ahadith related to trials: -"Fitan/trials will come like the waves of the ocean enveloping all of you" -"One who sits in his house and breaks his sword is the best person" -"Allah will test you in this world by your internal fighting so that in the next world you shall be forgiven" -"My ummah is one that is shown mercy in the next life and all of its trials are on this life" -"Ignorant leaders will be taken as leaders and fight against legitimate rulers" -"Their speech will be beautiful but actions will be harmful" -"Once the sword is unsheathed, it will never be put back in" hinting at once the civil war begins the Ummah will never be united Hudayfa, a sahaba, said: "The start of the trials is the murder of Uthman, and the end of it is when the Dajjal comes" -The Prophet [s] pointed toward the east and said "the trial will come out of there" refering to the Iraq area. The various changes that were happening too quickly that led to Uthman's murder: -The conquering of so much land so quickly, so much wealth pouring in, so there was a lot of change very rapidly -Those not raised in Islam found it difficult to give up old lifestyles -Hadith of the Prophet (pbuh) "4 are the things of Jahaliyah (old ignorant times) my Ummah will never get rid of them, main one being tribalism...." Also covered are all of the various complaints that the rebels lodged against Uthman [r]. While each complaint has a kernel of truth, they are massively overblown and twisted. Complaints: 1) Burning of the Mushafs 2) Exile of Abu Dharr (Fabricated) 3) Lack of participation in Badr (Prophet [s] asked him not to) 4) Fleeing in the battle of Uhud (Which Allah forgave) 5) Not participating in Bayyahtul Ridwan (The Prophet [s] spoke for Uthman [r]) 6) Preventing people of Medina from using public land for pasture (It was for the State to use, not personal use) 7) Performing 4 rakahs instead of 2 at Mina during Hajj (Uthman [r] felt he was not a traveler, thus needing to pray 4) 8) Bringing back his uncle from exile And more.. In this video, Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi continues to cover the ahadith pertaining to Uthman Ibn 'Affan [r] and specific incidents occurring during the life of Abu Bakr and Umar [ra]. A summary of topics covered are: -Blessings of Uthman [r] as mentioned in the books of hadith -Hadith of Uthman entering upon the Prophet [r] where the Prophet [s] predicted that Uthman would enter Jannah after some trials -Hadith of mountain shaking and the Prophet [s] said to it "Calm down Uhud, as you have a Nabi, one siddique and 2 shaheeds on you" -The prophet [s] covering up part of his leg when Uthman [r] entered, but not when Abu Bakr and Umar had entered, due to Uthman's shyness -The prophet [s] warned of 3 trials and for Muslims to stay firm during them. a) His death b) Dajjal c) a khalifa killed clinging steadfast to the truth (referring to the death of Uthman [r]) -The prophet [s] patted Uthman [r] on chest and said "Ya Uthman, Allah might give you a shirt, if the hypocrites try to take it off of you, do not let them until you meet me" Incidents during the life of Abu Bakr and Umar [ra]: -During time of Abu Bakr [r], Uthman [r] gave advice and was part of inner cabinet. -Uthman ordered food/merchandise during drought. Vendors wanted to pay upto 50% more, but Uthman said he had an offer of 10 times higher (ie, 1,000%), then gave it all away to the Muslims -At Abu Bakr's deathbed, Abu Bakr [r] commented that Uthman [r] was the most worthy of Khilafa after Umar [ra]. -During time of Umar [r]'s khilafa, Uthman [r] was the one to suggest starting the Islamic calendar at Muharram. -Uthman [r] was also the first to recommend the registry [census]. -Appointment of Uthman as Khalifa: -Umar [r] assigned 6 people to decide next khalifa -AbdurRahman Ibn Al'Auf made final decision and picked Uthman over Ali [ra] to be the next Khalifa, after making consultations with various others.
