Welcome 2 is the common name of the twenty-first concert tour by American musician Prince. Playing over 80 shows, the tour reached North America, Europe and Australia. Each leg of the tour is branded by the "Welcome 2" title followed by the continent the leg is located in. This one was held at the Hop Farm Festival, Paddock Wood, England, July 3, 2011
Just hours after the world learned of Prince's death, a bluegrass arrangement of Raspberry Beret hit the note for mourning music fans at O'Tooles in Lakewood Ohio. Sunshine Daydream is monthly project that is comprised of the some of the stalwarts of the rich Cleveland Americana scene. Players at the show were: Thor Platter (guitar/vocals), Tom Prebish (guitar/vocals), Chris Hanna (keyboards), Alfredo Guerrieri (bass), Fred Perez-Stable (drums). On their first set, the band played acoustically and were joined by NE Ohio Bluegrass linchpins Paul Kovac and Bill Lestock. They closed the set with covers of the recently deceased Merle Haggard and Prince.
The only time in my career I covered a Prince song. This is from the Firma Hergebruik 2012 demo. The arrangement and main riff are mine. This somehow turned out to be one of the least heavy tracks on the demo but I still love this version. Love the added acoustic and tambourine. Great harmonies in this band. And last but not least, a great song.
