Skober - Membrane - Drumcode - DC128

After the success of the first A-sides compilation in 2012, Adam Beyer has decided its time to release another. With Adam’s stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the Techno scene and the rise of Drumcode, the standard of demo’s that have been sent to Adam have been top notch. Adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks each, consisting of tracks that Adam has tried and tested. There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode’s core family. Combining both old and new talents Drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

4. Monika Kruse @ Voodooamt - Highway No. 4 (Skober Remix)

Monika Kruse @ Voodooamt - Highway No. 4 (Skober Remix)

For the 15 years of Terminal M festivities it was a sure step to also get back into our catalogue and obviously listened to the older releases again. And it quickly came to our mind that Monika Kruses @ Voodooamt's classic 'Passengers' album from 2003 still is a true gem. So we reworked and remastered the whole album and asked close friends to select a track they wanted to remix. Oliver Huntemann, Alberto Ruiz and Skober immediately agreed and surprised us with their great new interpretations. 5. Sasha Carassi - Echoes (Skober Remix) [Phobiq]

Sasha Carassi - Echoes (Skober Remix) [Phobiq]

It’s time for Sasha Carassi’s “Echoes” from a few months ago to receive remix treatment, and Skober’s interpretation is up first and focuses on the melodic elements of the Original but cleverly adds moody synths which add to the overall epicness of the affair, especially in the grandiose breakdown. Layton Giordani is up next with his trademarked shadowy sound and impeccable arrangement, offering yet another angle of attack. Last but not least are Loco & Jam dubbing things out with bursts of references to the original in key moments, while maintaining a rocksteady vibe sprinkled with discordant stabs.

8. Skober - You Will Find It

Skober - You Will Find It

Skober makes a debut on We Are The Brave with a no-holds-barred, two track party starter. Renowned for his versatile but always-dynamic style, Skober tracks are characterized by big musical moments, strong builds and heavy hitting drops. He is a natural entertainer and this comes across in his music and performances and makes him a real fans favorite. Does that sound like someone else we know? We think so too! So what’s the story behind the release? Who better to ask than Alan himself? “If I love it, then we will release it...” was Fitzpatrick’s typically succinct response when quizzed on his thoughts behind Skober’s two-track single. “I am fortunate enough to get sent a lot of unreleased music but I knew as soon as I first played these tracks from Skober that they were going to be a big part of my sets all summer and that’s about as far as the A&R thought process needs to go as far as I am concerned – if the tunes goes of on the floor then they are right for the label”. Simplicity is the key then it seems; and it is hard to argue with that philosophy. Particularly in the context of a new record label looking to make it’s way within an ultra competitive and increasingly crowded market place. It is certainly never a bad thing to try and break things down to the essentials - what really matters - and when it comes to bring Brave, that’s what it is all about – go with your gut, follow your heart, don’t be scared to trust your feelings.

12. Skober - Bring It To Me (Original Mix)

Skober - Bring It To Me (Original Mix)

Skober brings his unmistakeable sound back to Phobiq and “Bring It To Me” is just oozing classy darkness with menacing stabs over a grinding rhythm section. The secret here, however, is made up of the warped synths leading to an epic-yet-psychotic breakdown. “Chaotic Harmony” serves as a chrome-plated juggernaut, sporting metallic riffs and tense atmospherics, for a total nocturnal vibe. The Re:Axis remix pulls the gears back a bit and relies on warbled effects and heavy use of the original’s vocal snippet, while snappy drums shuffle away effortlessly and make way for some tasty chord action for a totally different approach.

Skober - Keep Calling (Original Mix) [Tronic]

We welcome Ukrainian techno talent Skober for his first release on Tronic! Skober delivers two phat tracks that’s have been road tested by Christian for several months. “Butterfly Effect” is a musical techno affair that works perfectly to change to mood in a rocking set. “Keep Calling” is a tough housy groover that uses a female vocal sample in the break. Both tracks work a treat. Give them a try and see for yourself!
