Debbie Stoller on knitting: “The reason I knit is because it just feels delicious in my hands. I always feel like my life is better when I have a craft project in my hand.”
Debbie Stoller is the New York Times best-selling author of the Stitch 'n Bitch series of knitting and crocheting books. Ever since starting her first Stitch 'n Bitch group in NYC in 1999, Debbie has been helping to popularize knitting among a new generation, both with her books and with the spread of Stitch 'n Bitch groups, of which there are now over 1000 all across the world. She has been called a "Knitting Superstar" by the New York Times, and has penned 5 books in the series: Stitch 'n Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook, Stitch 'n Bitch Nation; Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker' Son of Stitch 'n Bitch; and Stitch 'n Bitch Superstar Knitting.
Since 2010, Debbie has a line of yarn she produced together with Red Heart: Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller. Debbie is also the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of BUST magazine, and is the co-author of The BUST DIY Guide to Life. Debbie lives in Brooklyn with a crazy cat, two ridiculous dogs, and way too much yarn.
recycle and reuse your magazines by making a canvas that you can use in your mixed media art.
I seldom purchase canvases. This is an inexpensive and super easy way to make your own, in any size you want . I like to use Golden's Self Leveling Clear Gel, but you can use another kind of gel medium or adhesive.
NOTE: When making my own canvases out of magazine pages, I work with a dry brush. I DO NOT wet the brush in water.....that would delay the drying process and would significantly warp your canvas.
This canvas is a great mixed media surface to work on.
