7. 2dB - Leave [Friction Premiere]

2dB - Leave [Friction Premiere]

Out Now on Beatport https://Technique.lnk.to/2dBleaveSo Out Everywhere tomoz 25th Aug TECH 160 – 2DB – Leave It's been a while since we've seen Drumsound & Bassline Smith's rough-edged alter-ego 2DB make an appearance. In fact, the last time the Technique bosses' slightly more evil doppelgangers showed up was in 2015, when they delivered the masterpieces of filth “Terrahawk”, “Check Out the Bounce”, and “Quaalude”. So, have those two years away dulled the raucous sensibilities of the 2DB style? Well, “Leave” opens with some dancehall-tinged chords and a pop-soul vocal that might lull the casual listener into a very mistaken sense of security. But then there's that tom-roll into building kicks and pitch-bend madness that signals it's time to brace yourself for a major onslaught. When it's time to switch up the mood and raise the energy in the dance, this is going to be an essential tool. The powerhouse drop is where we see that 2DB griminess come into full effect. That metronomic battleaxe strike of the mid-range bass, supported by chest-rattling sub and those monstrously stomping drums is going to hit any rave like an earthquake. This is insistent, driving, dancefloor music that's made by people who know exactly what deejays want on their USBs. In short, it's an absolute beast of a tune. It's clear that the 2DB moniker is the cloak that Drumsound & Bassline Smith to hide their dark side. Of course, they've got all the production skill, the technical ability, and musicality a producer could want. But, in tunes like this, they also get to show off undiluted raw savagery. And DnB dancefloors love it. Tracklisting: A. 2DB – Leave For interview requests and further information, contact: [email protected]

9. 2DB - Quaalude [Clip]

2DB - Quaalude [Clip]

2dB - Check Out The Bounce / Quaalude iTunes: smarturl.it/TECH118 Beatport bit.ly/2dBCheckQuaalude 12th April 2015 When the mighty Drumsound and Bassline Smith adopt their 2DB persona you know there’s some serious rave destruction coming. While the label bosses have played an integral part in the rise of the big-room D&B sound, they’ve still got their roots in the underground. This raw and gritty guise recently surfaced on the monumental 15 Years of Technique album to deliver the vicious Terrahawk, and now there’s something new for filth-connoisseurs to get their ears around. As we get into Check Out The Bounce, we’re left in no doubt that this is meant to raise the temperature in the rave. A gangsta staccato synth pattern, undercurrents of squelching bass and an eponymous vocal sample signal that it’s time to step up on the floor. The drop delivers a powerful dose of twisting and fluctuating bass, emphasised by a sparse and insistent beat. This is music to move to, pure and simple. Quaalude is anything but a sedative. A seductive cloud of atmospheric strings creates a hands-in-the-air vibe, punctured and reshaped by a synth riff in the high end. This riff drives us all the way into the drop of serrated bass, reforming again into part of the rhythm pattern. This track takes sounds on a journey, recontextualising them along the way. And the party is taken along for the ride, effortlessly gliding from laidback to rave-mode. Here are two more reasons why the 2DB name is an undisputed seal of dancefloor quality. This production team is constantly able to modulate their formula, creating multiple vibes and moods to reinterpret their genre. In short, if it’s 2DB, you know it’s going to be big.

12. 2DB - Spud Gun ( Crossfire EP 2 )

2DB - Spud Gun ( Crossfire EP 2 )

PRESS RELEASE -- FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION Various Artists -- Crossfire EP 2 RELEASE DATE: 14th April 2013 The first salvo of "Crossfire" hit at the beginning of last year. It was an EP that gave warning that Technique Recordings' elite unit of producers were the ones to watch for 2012. And the ubiquity of their tunes all over Radio 1, 1Xtra and Kiss, and in raves worldwide, soon proved that it wasn't a warning to be taken lightly. Now it's time to give 2013 the same treatment. First up is "Oxygen", from heavyweight outfit 2DB, drawing in the listener with subtle arpeggios and evolving riffs, creating a warm and melodic intro to the "Crossfire" experience. Then KG and Erb n Dub, in their Hashtag guise, switch things up with a sparser, technoid-paranoia workout in "Don't You Want Me". And proving that you can't pigeon-hole Technique, there's yet another sound on display next with a steel-reinforced VIP mix of L Plus's anthemic "Time Travel" from 2011. Halfway through the EP, and still the variety keeps coming from the Technique team. MaxNRG drops "Grimey Beats" into the mixture, a half-speed D&B stomper that combines elements of reggae, electro and R&B with devastating consequences. Then L Plus is back for a second contribution with "End of Story", a track which takes his trademark silk-textured synths and street-hardened beats and twists them around subtle musical reference points. Then finally, 2DB come through to wrap up proceedings with "Spud Gun", a tune which rolls in under the radar before jumping out at you with a powerful assault of twenty-first century acid. If you were anywhere within hearing distance of a bass-conscious DJ in 2012, you'll have heard a Technique Recordings release. But, even if you're late to the party, this second "Crossfire" showcase is here to demonstrate why these flavours should be on everyone's setlist. Tracklisting: 1. 2DB -- Oxygen 2. Hashtag -- Don't You Want Me 3. L Plus -- Time Travel VIP 4. MaxNRG -- Grimey Beats 5. +2dB x Ali Aiman - Cheap Perfume

A collaboration with @aliiaiiman. "Blue, the air was full with your cheap perfume Blooming on a Sunday afternoon Like a flower bows her head to a hummingbird Diving down I follow you to distant worlds Words began to crumble into each other And time and space have lost all their worth Like children dancing in endless circles Words spoken so fragile they stay perpetual As brightly coloured as painted dreams The faces blur and my question lingers" Released January 6, 2016 Produced by ALI AIMAN, JEANNIE LEE and JO ANN Vocals by ALI AIMAN and JEANNIE LEE Written by JO ANN and ALI AIMAN Mastering by NICK LEE Follow +2dB: facebook.com/weare2db twitter.com/2dbmusic [email protected] Follow Ali Aiman: facebook.com/aliiaiiman twitter.com/aliiaiiman [email protected]

Islands

Our latest single, Islands taken from the upcoming EP "+" Lyrics: Shadow in the room
 Hollow is the fruit
 Smell of it lingers
 Remember Swallowed up in smoke
 Now's the call to go
What is left are ghosts Islands Forests and cities I've roamed
 For what is out there
For what is deep within us And I've been waiting for too long with you
 I'd be lying
if I don't love you

2DB - Faith In You ( Technique Recordings ) [13th Oct]

2DB - Motion EP RELEASE DATE: 13th Oct 2DB are back. For those who aren’t aware, this is the alter-ego of award-winning production team Drumsound & Bassline Smith. Yeah, them. With their legendary status in the D&B world and a string of high-profile releases, when these guys step into the studio, you want to pay attention. First, the title track, Motion. Epic strings and piano instantly draw you into a cinematic landscape before the rasp of mid-range synths and a building kick-drum progression signal the arrival of the iron fist drop. As grinding bass weaves with tough drums, this just keeps building. And that’s just the warm-up. Next we have Faith in You, with vocal snippets and bleeps swirling into the mix and evoking the old skool sensibility that the 2DB name is known for. And when the bass hits, it delivers an irresistible dose of twenty-first century funk Then we go deeper. Pink Floyd is science fiction music. The dancefloor is taken on a journey through time, floating past elements from mid-nineties jungle and the many influences that era drew from. This is one for the true heads, for those that know. Now, 2DB take you into the pure dancefloor vibes of Teethgrinder. When you want to inject some energy into the party, this provides the bouncing bassline and street-hard beats you’ll draw for. And as if you needed more, we have a bonus: Paris-based DJ Yox’s rework of the classic Original Sound System Style. The junglist essence of the track is twisted into a state-of-the-filthy-art rave smasher that’s a perfect DJ weapon.
