1. Atlas Touch

Atlas Touch

TOUCH when will i feel this as vivid as it truly is, fall in love in a single touch, and fall apart when it hurts too much? can we skip past near-death clichés where my heart restarts, as my life replays? all i want is to flip a switch before something breaks that cannot be fixed. i know, i know- the sirens sound just before the walls come down. pain is a well-intentioned weatherman predicting God as best he can, but God i want to feel again. rain or shine, i don’t feel a thing, just some information upon my skin. i miss the subtle aches when the weather changed, the barometric pressure we always blamed. all i want is to flip a switch before something breaks that cannot be fixed. invisible machinery, these moving parts inside of me well, they’ve been shutting down for quite some time, leaving only rust behind. well i know, i know- the sirens sound just before the walls come down. pain is a well-intentioned weatherman predicting God as best he can, but God i want to feel again, oh God i want to feel again. down my arms, a thousand satellites suddenly discover signs of life.

3. Son

Son

Song #3 (of 25) in the series, Atlas: Year Two by Sleeping At Last. SON show me who i am and who i could be. initiate the heart within me 'til it opens properly. slow down, start again from the beginning. i can’t keep my head from spinning out of control. is this what being vulnerable feels like? i swear i'll try, try, try to breathe ’til it turns to muscle memory. i'm only steady on my knees; one day i'll stand up on my own two feet. i’ll run the risk of being intimate with brokenness. through this magnifying glass, i see a thousand finger prints on the surfaces of who i am. show me where to find the silver lining as the mercury keeps rising, ’til the glass or my fever breaks. show me how to struggle gracefully. let the scaffolding inside of me be strong enough to hold this tired body up once more. and i will try, try, try to breathe ’til it turns to muscle memory. i feel the pressure in my blood building up and liberating me. so i will try, try, try to breathe ’til it turns to muscle memory. i'm only steady on my knees. but one day, i'll stand on my own two feet. i'll run the risk of being intimate with brokenness. through this magnifying glass, i see a thousand finger prints that ran the risk of being intimate with my brokenness. i was given a gift of hope in a thousand finger prints on the surface of who i am.

4. Heart

Heart

"Heart" is from the Atlas: Year Two song series by Sleeping At Last. As heard on Grey's Anatomy. Lyrics: HEART i am short of breath standing next to you. i am out of my depth at this altitude. like the world makes sense from a window seat, you are beautiful like i've never seen. go ahead and laugh, even if it hurts, go ahead and pull the pin. what if we could risk everything we have, and just let our walls cave in? i am short of breath standing next to you. i'll be the dangerous ledge you be the parachute. the blue and green below is a masterpiece, but you are beautiful like i've never seen. go ahead and laugh, even if it hurts, go ahead and pull the pin. what if we could risk everything we have, and just let our walls cave in? go ahead and laugh, even if it hurts, go ahead and pull the pin. what if we could risk everything we have, and just let our walls cave in? let our walls cave in. let our walls cave in.

Episode 16: Sleeping At Last, Grace Requires Nothing of You

I think there are truths which reveal the limitations of human language. And when this happens we have to rely on artists to express these great spiritual insights through an alternative language--like music or film or the visual arts or dance--to say clearly what the rest of us only feel vaguely.  So, when I heard Ryan O’Neal, otherwise known as Sleeping At Last, was writing songs from the perspective of each of the Nine Enneagram Types, well as you can imagine, I was pretty intrigued. On today’s show, Sleeping At Last joins us to talk about this intriguing and wonderful series of new music and shares his song titled, “ONE” from the project, ATLAS: Year Two. You’ll love hearing not only his music but also hearing his heart which I think is, well, evidently magnificent. Sleeping At Last is the moniker of Chicago-based singer-songwriter, producer and composer, Ryan O’Neal.  In 2013, Sleeping At Last began the long-form concept project, Atlas, which is an ongoing series of new music (EPs, Singles, etc) to be released over the course of several years. Atlas: Year One (30 songs) was completed in early 2014. Sleeping At Last is currently working on Atlas: Year Two. Sleeping At Last can be heard frequently on popular TV Shows and Films such as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, The Fault In Our Stars – Trailer, Grey’s Anatomy, So You Think You Can Dance, Criminal Minds, Bones, The Vampire Diaries, J.J. Abrams & Alfonso Cuaron’s Believe and many more. (Click here for complete list)

20. 101010 - (Sleeping at Last, Cover)

101010 - (Sleeping at Last, Cover)

Words & Music: Sleeping at Last Keys: Timon Dantuma Guitar + vocals: Jorn den Hertog Geproduceerd in samenwerking met Eduard Vollbehr -- Verse: Hold your breath and count to 28 Change is slow but I feel it taking shape Folding over us like waves On origami ocean tides, we sway Blueprints constantly being rearranged Over microscopes we plan and strain The finest print in the whitest ink, Before it dries, there's no time to think It feels like everything we've known is sink or swim Chorus: But grey is not a compromise - It is the bridge between two sides I would even argue that it is the color That most represents God's eyes Verse: Hold your breath and count to 29 Connect the dots and cherish every line Paper cuts and trails aside, Make a wish and hold it tight, This time, we try our very hardest not to try Chorus: 'cause grey is not a compromise - It is the bridge between two sides The shores on which our stubborn land And restless seas collide Grey is not just middle ground, It is a truce that waits to be signed I would even argue that, from where we stand, It most represents the color of God's eyes End: We fold our atlas into paper planes Change is slow, but I feel it taking shape
