3. Guy J - Nirvana

Guy J - Nirvana

With Guy J’s eagerly anticipated third artist album drawing ever closer on John Digweed’s Bedrock Records, the first offering is delivered in the form of three intricately crafted productions titled ‘Nirvana’. Forever drawing influence from contrasting styles, genres and concepts, Guy J has become synonymous with creating innovative and out of the box productions such as ‘1000 Words’ which received an array of solid reviews from leading publications within the music industry. Adhering to exactly that fashion, Nirvana embraces his eclectic and much envied ability of being able to produce a varying catalogue of tracks of the highest stature. Traversing through fluttering synth arrangements and atmospheric basslines, the opening production ‘8 Minute Flight’ is the superb beginning for what is set to be another profound chapter in the story of Guy J. A pivotal element of John Digweed’s Bedrock imprint, his forthcoming album is a showcase of all his favored diverse sounds compiled into a two CD’s of the highest caliber. Never being content with constructing a linear style of productions, ‘Nirvana’s’ euphoric sounding riffs and elegantly composed percussion display Guy J’s versatility as an electronic artist, where as ‘Provokoter’s’ distorted rhythmic composition creates a darkened tone for all those listening. Carrying a wealth of experience on his shoulders, coupled with being supported by the underground music’s most profound names, ‘Nirvana’ is a sublime insight to the forthcoming album. Intricately weaving through each track creating an astonishing listening experience like no other, this EP will once again ignite excitement in the global music community that Guy J’s most ground breaking project to date is nearly upon us. The 2xCD and Limited 12" Vinyl Sampler are both available to pre-order now from the Bedrock store http://bedrockmusic.bigcartel.com/products

6. Caribou - " Can't Do Without You" ( Nick Muir Remix)

Caribou -

So here finally is Nick Muirs storming re-edit of 'Can't Do Without You' from Caribous superb album 'Our Love'. Aimed, of course, squarely at the dance floor, Nick has taken the track, magnified, squeezed and wrung out every ounce of dance potential from the tune. For the last few weeks the track has been exclusively in the hands of John Digweed who has used it as a set closer to devastating effect. The edit has the full blessing of Caribous leading light Dan Snaith and the City Slang label and is available here now for the first time as a free download! www.twitter.com/NickMuirMusic www.facebook.com/pages/Nick-Muir/297106693727761 www.nickmuir.com

BEDDIGI130 3. Booka Shade - In Velvet

Out now on Beatport https://www.beatport.com/release/rosebud-ep/2433086 Booka Shade deliver their Rosebud EP for John Digweeds Bedrock imprint this November, featuring three new original tracks from the Berlin duo. Blaufield Music founders Booka Shade have long been respected figures in the contemporary electronic music scene having racked up a handful of crossover cuts amongst their regular output aimed towards more underground realms. Here we see them focusing on the latter with a new EP for the esteemed Bedrock label, headed up by John Digweed and home to material from the likes of Guy Gerber, Guy J, Eagles & Butterflies and of course the label founder himself. Booka Shade : "We have been extremely fortunate in our careers having our music released on many revered and renowned labels. We are particularly humbled and proud to have DJ legend John Digweed pick three of our tracks for a release on Bedrock." Title-track Rosebud leads with an amalgamation of dark and brooding bass tones, percussive chimes and a bubbling arpeggio lead at its core whilst ethereal voices and resonant leads ebb and flow within. Lust 2.1 follows with the focus on tension building atmospherics, metallic percussive rolls echoing vocal chops before marimba like synth tones and chugging arpeggios take the spotlight to tail out the composition. In Velvet then rounds out the package with elongated subs, sweeping atmospherics and a choppy synth sequence all dynamically evolving and unfolding around an organic drum groove driving the composition.

BEDDIGI131 1. Luke Brancaccio & Simon Berry - I Hear This

On Beatport now https://www.beatport.com/release/i-hear-this/2447725 The past 12 months has positioned Luke Brancaccio & Simon Berry as one of the most exhilarating new collaborative projects around. Having unveiled two vital, critically acclaimed releases on Bedrock Oblivion (BEDDIGI107) and Close Your Eyes (BEDDIGI120) this highly experienced duo now conclude an exceptional creative year with yet another towering production, I Hear This. Their third, highly accomplished package is completed with a stunning remix courtesy of Yotto. A trademark of the Brancaccio and Berry partnership is their innate ability to blur any out-dated notions of separation between style and genre. The pulsating, hissing throb of I Hear This skilfully joins the past to the future, cleverly marrying sophisticated melodic motifs with equally hypnotic looped vocal elements, soaring high and diving deep, blending a diverse and original creative palette across 9 minutes of mesmerising electronic wonderment. Finlands Yotto (Anjunadeep) has an unbounded ability to create joyously mesmerizing house music, and his monstrously energetic interpretation of I Hear This is a perfect complement to the original. Utilising a more linear approach, Yotto sprinkles his dynamic magic dust onto proceedings to dazzling effect and it is no wonder that his musical creations are so admired and sought after worldwide.

14. Marc Romboy - Counting Comets - Ruede Hagelstein Remix preview

Marc Romboy - Counting Comets - Ruede Hagelstein Remix preview

Marc Romboy's infectious, driving cut for Bedrock records Counting Comets is back with a fresh new remix by Berliner and Watergate resident Ruede Hagelstein. The original track – also released on Digweed's seminal label – was Romboy at his most uplifting, cosmic and grooving tech-house best. After igniting clubs worldwide, the dance-floor favourite, originally released in summer 2015, receives an updated sheen from Hagelstein (who recently remixed Namito and Brams 'YTO' on Romboy's Systematic Recordings) imprint), plus a brand new follow on cut from Romboy himself. Hagelstein's interpretation takes the listener on a journey through twisted and distorted tech house from the offset, with disintegrated, 8-bit beats lending the track a stomping groove. He roughed up the pristine edges of the original and lain down a thumping kick drum while distorted synth chords fluctuate between minor and major tones. Romboy offers listeners a fresh interpretation in 2016 with Part 2, his down-tempo mix of the original cut. Rising through a crescendoing swathe of atmospheric tones like a sunrise over a valley, it's beatless montage of ambient sounds and vast, rolling harmonics offer a calming and soothing beginning for this ten minute epic. Then, a growling, melodic bassline grounds the track with solid foundations as sprinkles of groove and heads-down atmosphere begin to unfold.

17. BEDDIGI134 1. Bedrock - Heaven Scent - Marc Romboy Remix

BEDDIGI134 1. Bedrock - Heaven Scent - Marc Romboy Remix

On Beatport now https://www.beatport.com/release/heaven-scent-remixes/2484441 In 1999 John Digweed and Nick Muir launched their now legendary label with the 12 vinyl release of Heaven Scent, giving it the iconic catalogue number BED1. Continuing the series of special releases to celebrate the Bedrock labels 20-year anniversary in 2019, this landmark classic has now received heavyweight reworks by Marc Romboy and Eagles & Butterflies. "Heaven Scent was a game changer. It really was one of the most essential dance tunes. " Marc Romboy Those familiar with Mönchengladbach master DJ/Producer Marc Romboys exceptional creative output and deep relationship with the Bedrock imprint will know what to expect. A continual advocate for their forward-thinking vision, Marc delivers an utterly dynamic, high-flying 10 minutes of pulsating perfection. His remix soars, dips and dives in a deliciously delirious joyous homage to the originals epic attitude. Hot on the heels of releasing his stunning collaborative project with John Digweed & Nick Muir (Crazy Diamond/Divenire BEDDIGI118), UK-born, LA-based Producer/DJ, Chris Barratt (aka Eagles & Butterflies) returns to the label with his own decidedly individualistic interpretation of Heaven Scent. Marrying an insistently metronomic groove with an intense, mind-bending, looped and layer structure, he takes the track on an entirely different journey before stripping everything back and dropping down and launching into those hallowed unforgettable chords, in a classic raise your hands if you understand moment, all timed to complete perfection.

18. BEDDIGI129 1. Hannes Bieger - Stars

BEDDIGI129 1. Hannes Bieger - Stars

On Beatport Now https://www.beatport.com/release/stars-ep/2419160 Having contributed the excellent ‘Mauna Loa’ to John Digweed’s landmark ‘Bedrock XX’ compilation, Hannes Bieger now returns with his dynamic debut EP for the label. As one of Europe’s most in-demand mixing engineers Hannes has built an untouchable reputation, with an exhaustive client list that includes some of the biggest names in contemporary house and techno. In 2017, after 11 years in the world of mixing and mastering, Hannes decided to shine a spotlight on his creative talents as an artist, emboldened by years of experience, a renewed zest for production and a lifelong romance with electronic music. Since then, Hannes has focused his energy on producing his own music and building an unforgettable live show. A debut EP and follow-up for Steve Bug’s Poker Flat, releases for Audiofly’s Flying Circus, Alex Niggemann’s Aeon, and a remix for Monkey Safari, alongside his ‘Bedrock XX’ contribution, have seen this masterful German artist rapidly recognised as a talent that cannot be ignored. Now, his four-track ‘Stars EP’ raises the creative bar ever higher. The title track is a wistful, pensive vocal trip showcasing the amazing Juan Hansen from Buenos Aires, whose soothing voice is the perfect juxtaposition to Hannes’ drama-tinged composition. The past couple of years have seen this supremely talented, trained composer/musician/vocalist, rapidly becoming legendary in the clubs of Argentina, guided by an exemplary ethos of mixing genres without prejudice – if you haven’t already, check Juan’s recent ‘Kobalt EP’ collaboration (BEDDIGI124). ‘Stars’ is a masterclass in subtle genius with a distinct emotive edge, swirling with delicious energy and teasing acidic motifs. It also comes in an equally engrossing, stripped-back ‘Dub’ version for those less vocally inclined. ‘Scoria’ is a pacey, sinister cut with contagious energy and unsettling atmospherics, further highlighting Hannes’ deft creative skills. The track’s dancefloor-driven attitude and complimentary brooding arrangement results in an entirely distinctive individualistic take on the techno blueprint. The highly hypnotic ‘Titan’ is a gloriously jittery ride, featuring layers of spine-tingling electronic wizardry over an infectious percussive groove – a perfect finale to an exceptional EP.
