Sharing a mutual friend in the form of Frankfurt nightclub, The Robert Johnson, @lea-porcelain found a natural fit in @scubaofficial to remix their track Warsaw Street. With his superior knowledge of DJing, producing and releasing music, @Hotflush Recording’s Paul Rose (Scuba) turns Lea Porcelain’s ghostly, post punk track into a classy eight-minute foray into blissful techno.
Keeping the unnerving live vocals of the original and punctuating them with drums and spine tingling crescendos, Rose manages to produce an almost unrecognisable version whilst keeping Warsaw Street firmly connected to its atmospheric, illustrious German origin. Lea Porcelain had spent two years recording in Berlin’s Funkhaus Studio; a broadcasting house created under Soviet supervision.
The duo add “From when the first bass kicks in until the last synth fades out – we are proud to have our song Warsaw Street remixed by the one and only Scuba! From England to Berlin – he is famous for playing the best dance floors with the most delicate DJ-sets.”
Manchester-based Children Of Zeus' brand of neo-soul infused hip-hop has garnered them plenty of admirers recently, among them Boiler Room, and they were recently brought out by Yussef Kamaal at their Band On The Wall show the other week.
The duo of Konny Kon and Tyler Daley's latest offering is the summer boom-bap belter Don't Say A Word, the flipside to new single I Can't Wait.
With a monthly NTS show and support slots with the likes of Slick Rick, De La Soul, Mos Def, Slum Village and The Pharcyde under their belt, Zeus are picking up some serious heat - 2017 could just be their year. Listen to Don't Say A Word below.
We're is proud to present the exclusive premiere for Egor, a track taken from Health Records' first vinyl outing in the form of SUPERGOD - a brand new project from experimental beats producer Bambooman and legendary UK MC King Kashmere.
Bambooman has been stirring the pot over the past few months with his recent Feel and Shudder EPS for Matthew Herbert’s Accidental Records, and here he teams up with Kashmere whose own musical journey over the years has been wide-ranging and fascinating. Most notably he's lent his vocal talents to producer Dr Zygote (aka The Maghreban) who together form Strange U, having released on the prolific Eglo Records as well as cult UK label High Focus.
Although Bambooman and King Kashmere have crossed paths over the years, this is their first fully formed output together, consisting of six tracks that navigate us through portals and wormholes of unknown futures with King Kashmere actings as the metamorphic tour guide.
Parisian production duo Souleance are the latest to drop some science for our Bonafide Beats series. This eclectic mix follows the release of their second LP La Beat Tape on First Word Records – a smorgasbord of sound, encompassing heavy Turkish breaks, Hammond funk, tripped out western cinematics, brooding jazz, Shadow-esque breaks, Just Blaze-style horn-heavy hip-hop and 80s synth-hop – all consistently segued together with their signature funky head-nod, boom-bap production style.
Souleance is the partnership of producer Fulgeance and DJ Soulist of (Paris club night) What The Funk. United in 2006 through a mutual love of… erm, beats to put it plainly, they have since created a fresh signature sound that has been a regular feature at Bonafide Towers.
