Sikkim-Bhutan Himalaya seen aerially!

Bhutan himalaya seen aerially. Right at the beginning of the clip one sees a clear view of Kanchenjunga in Sikkim, India! This mountain kingdom is still perhaps the worlds most exclusive tourist destination. Situated in the heart of the great Himalayas, the world's mightiest range; Bhutan is flanked on the north and north west by Tibet, the plains of North-East India in the south and south west, and the hills of India's north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in the east. Rocky mountains, captivating valleys, winding rivers, sparkling lakes, thick forests and the unexplored virginity of nature all make Bhutan a trekkers' paradise. Trekking is the ideal way to experience rural Bhutanese culture and uncharted wilderness. Trek routes range from the relatively effortless day trips to expeditions lasting over weeks. Though rafting in Bhutan is still underdeveloped, experts who have scouted the rivers are of the opinion that it has the potential for some of the best rafting on earth. The normal tourists and trekkers must enjoy the various river programs on rivers ranging from class 3 to 5. The outstanding ones include Mo Chhu, upstream of Punakha in eastern Bhutan, and the Ema Datse Canyon on the Mangde Chhu in central Bhutan. Forests cover over 60 per cent of Bhutan, changing with increasing altitude from subtropical forests at the lowest altitudes to open juniper and rhododendron scrub at 4,000-4,500 m. They support much of the country's biodiversity: 160 species of mammals, 770 of birds, and 5,400 of vascular plants. Kanchenjunga as seen aerially on the flight from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan. This clip also affords a superb view of Mt. Everest or Chomolongma in Tibetan or Sagarmatha in Nepalese. This is the world's highest mountain at 29, 028 feet of 8848 meters altitude. This view is seen from just above the altitude of Everest in Nepal. Just as the plane passes a large cloud bank appears the gaunt figure of Everest... Green-backed Tit forages in hunting parties, in Landour

See here in Landour and a frequently-sighted resident it is, the Green-backed Tit forages in hunting parties, in Uttarakhand's middle forests. "The Green-backed Tit (Parus monticolus) is a species of bird in the Paridae family. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Laos, Burma, Nepal, Pakistan, Taiwan and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are boreal forests, temperate forests, and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests." Landour, a small cantonment town contiguous with Mussoorie, is about 35 km (22 mi) from the city of Dehradun in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. The twin towns of Mussoorie and Landour, together, are a well-known British Raj-era hill station in northern India. Mussoorie-Landour was widely known as the "Queen of the Hills". The name Landour is drawn from Llanddowror, a village in Carmarthenshire in southwest Wales. During the Raj, it was common to give nostalgic English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish names to one's home (or even to British-founded towns), reflecting one's ethnicity. Names drawn from literary works were also common, as from those by Robert Burns, Walter Scott, Thomas Hardy, Robert Louis Stevenson and many others.Like Mussoorie and Dehradun, Landour has long been a center of secondary education. The towns have had several schools and "orphanages" for both European and mixed-race Anglo-Indian children since the mid-19th century. (Hint: "Orphanage" was often a Raj-era euphemism for a school for illegitimate mixed-race children). Also, there were many missionary-run schools, of which the most well-known was (and remains) Woodstock School, founded in 1854 for the children of American missionaries. Practically all of the other prominent schools including Wynberg-Allen School, St. George's School, Mussoorie Public School, Waverley Convent (now CJM) and Vincent Hill (now Guru Nanak 5th Centenary School) are in Mussoorie, not Landour. The Indian Army also runs a primary school in Landour Cantonment.Among natural features in the area, the local peaks are the most prominent. ('Tibba' is a local word for hill/peak). Other than "Old" Lal Tibba and Landour hill themselves (which lie within the Cantonment), there is the hunched, heavily forested Pari Tibba (also called Fairy Hill or Witches' Hill), lurking due south of Woodstock School and due east of Wynberg-Allen School. Once a private hunting estate of the ruling family of Tehri-Garhwal, it was not deforested for that very reason. It is also called Burnt Hill, referring to the unusual number of lightning strikes it has taken over the years, which has given rise to local superstitions and also helped keep it free of humans. The hill remains a popular hiking spot for the local boarding schools, but not having motorable roads is blessedly free of "tourism". Due north of Landour, 16 km (9.9 mi) away as the crow flies is Nag Tibba ('Serpent's Peak'), at 3,022 m (9,972 ft) the highest peak in the local region. It lends its name to the Nag Tibba Range, itself the next-northerly of the five folds of the Himalaya. To the east of Landour are Tope Tibba and the oddly shaped Pepperpot mountain; both are hiking destinations. Sitta castanea Nuthatch in Uttarakhand

Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch in Landour. Is this a Sitta castanea or a cinnamoventris? The Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch (Sitta cinnamoventris) is a species of bird in the Sittidae family. It is found in the Indian Subcontinent. It is seen in Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Tibet. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This species has been split by Rasmussen and Anderton (2005) from the Indian Nuthatch and Burmese Nuthatch. The Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch is very similar to the previous but with a heavier bill, crown and mantle of the same shade. The wing and tail markings show contrasting markings; silvery-edge to primaries, blackish inner webs to tertials and tail with large white spots in the tail. White on ear coverts does not extend into chin unlike in the former. Race almorae of Nepal and NW Himalayas has paler underparts; race koelzi of the eastern Himalayas has the female darker than in other races. Resident from Murree Hills to the Uttaranchal foothills extending to the Assam Valley, Arunachal Pradesh into the Lushai Hills. Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch in Landour

Landour, a small cantonment town contiguous with Mussoorie, is about 35 km (22 mi) from the city of Dehradun in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. Porcupine raiding a field at night

A porcupine caught raiding a field at night dashes off into the forest, along a forested road at night, near the Gir National Park in Gujarat, India. Porcupines are rodents with a coat of sharp spines, or quills, that defend and camouflage them from predators. They are indigenous to the Americas, southern Asia, and Africa. Porcupines are the third largest of the rodents, behind the capybara and the beaver. Most porcupines are about 25--36 in (63--91 cm) long, with an 8--10 in (20--25 cm) long tail. Weighing between 12--35 lb (5.4--16 kg), they are rounded, large and slow. Porcupines come in various shades of brown, grey, and the unusual white. Porcupines' spiny protection resembles that of the unrelated erinaceomorph hedgehogs and monotreme echidnas. The common porcupine is an herbivore. It eats leaves, herbs, twigs and green plants like skunk cabbage and clover and in the winter it may eat bark. The North American porcupine often climbs trees to find food. The African porcupine is not a climber and forages on the ground. It is mostly nocturnal, but will sometimes forage for food in the day. Porcupines have become a pest in Kenya and are eaten as a delicacy source: wikipedia This footage is part of the professionally-shot broadcast stock footage archive of Wilderness Films India Ltd., the largest collection of imagery from South Asia. Los Angeles by night, planes whizzing by

All those lights streaking across the night sky of Los Angeles City in the USA are planes that are either heading to or taking off from LAX airport - one of the busiest airports on the west cost of the United States. The skyscrapers of LA are offset by the busy interstate highways as seen from this high point. A fantastic establishing time lapse shot of LA - the home of Hollywood and so much more! This would make for a perfect feature film introduction plate for LA city or Hollywood. The Americas, or America, are lands in the Western Hemisphere that are also known as the New World. Comprising the continents of North America and South America, along with their associated islands, they cover 8.3% of the Earth's total surface area (28.4% of its land area). The topography is dominated by the American Cordillera, a long chain of mountains that run the length of the west coast. The flatter eastern side of the Americas is dominated by large river basins, such as the Amazon, Mississippi, and La Plata. Extending 14,000 km (8,699 mi) in a north-south orientation, the climate and ecology varies strongly across the Americas, from arctic tundra of Northern Canada, Greenland, and Alaska, to the tropical rain forests in Central America and South America.
