4. Sounds of Sneakers By Shirley February 17th 2016

Sounds of Sneakers By Shirley February 17th 2016

This is the bespoke set that Richard Early (Shirley) created for the Sneakers Reunion at The Sindercombe social on Shepherd's Bush Green. Sneakers was a weekly Mod/ Rhythm & Blues Club at The Bush Hotel London, from 1982 to 1986. Shirley both named the club Sneakers (after the track High Heel Sneakers by Tommy Tucker), and was one of the resident DJ's throughout the club's existence. Shirley prepared this special Sneakers set, when club regulars reconvened at the original site of the club (30 years after it closed it's doors)on Wednesday 17th 2016, to celebrate both the club, and the publication of Paul Hallam's photographic book, Odds & Sods, which documents London's Mod scene of the 1980's. Fellow Sneakers regular Dave Edwards also prepared a special Sneakers set for the night, which will be available here shortly.

Blues Jazz Guitarist George Walker plays a lot of styles of music and publishes music books for guitar players. The sound o track #1 is Latin One. The sounds are based on my influence from Santana and flamenco music. the song is based on what you can do over 2 chord changes. George Walker is best known for his smooth jazz guitar instruments. He has lived with the music that he plays. He plays blues, jazz, and rhythm and blues, and has played and recorded with many top names in the music world. George has worked with Tommy Tucker who sang the hit single "High Heel Sneakers," Freddie Scott who sang "Hey Girl," Lou Rawls", who won a Grammy Award for the song ‘Natural Man,’ Bill Cosby with his 13-piece band, Barry White, and many more. In 2004, he published his own music book, ‘How to Play Today's Guitar Music Today,’ and in 2005, he summed up American Idol performances for Omaha's Fox 42 network. In 2006, George won two first place awards for composing music for the Hot Shops Film Festival, having composed music for 3 film contestants that won first place in comedy, first place for best video, and second place in drama. George takes all of these experiences and rolls them up into his performances and includes some songs from his CD, ‘One Way or Another the Blues.’ His performance is designed to give a complete overview of the many extensions of what can be played on the guitar, and describes the techniques that he uses to write for films, songs and T.V. jingles. Visit George's website for music samples.
