“DAYO: The Socio-Cultural Adaptation of Foreign College Students in the Philippines” is a radio documentary from PUP Bachelor of Arts in Journalism batch 2016, that aims to identify the struggles, experiences, and socio-cultural adaptation of foreign college students who chose to study in the Philippines.
The goal of pursuing this topic is to determine the relationship between foreign and local students, and to explore the foreign students’ adaptation.
“Dayo” came from the word “dayuhan” that means foreigner.
A “dayo” or foreign student should adapt socially and culturally to their host country and their new academic situations. It is important, therefore, to understand how institutions of higher education can help the foreign students to adapt better, in both aspects, in their new settings they are in.
