Ashley Beedle / Lay - Far / Darren Morris - Doctor Feelgood (12'' - LT064, Side A) 2015

Ever since the debut, “Communication EP” which also marked our 50th release, Alexander Lay-Far has a special place in the Local Talk family. Since then things have been going well with plenty more releases, tours, the launch of his label In-Beat-Ween Music plus a new full length album done. With so much things on the go we’re of course very happy to welcome Lay-Far back and with him this time, two UK house legends the needs little introduction, Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris. Together the trio produced an EP that embraces the charms of both disco and house and we think it hits on every level.

6. Ponty Mython - Adverbs EP (feat. Lay-Far & Nocow)

Ponty Mython - Adverbs EP (feat. Lay-Far & Nocow)

We are happy to announce the second EP by sir Ponty Mython on Capital Bass. It has been two years since his bulletproof “Jesus” EP in 2013. During these two years Ponty Mython has been working with such iconic house imprints as Arma, Quentssnetials, Dirt Crew and others. His new “Adverbs” EP is a quite eclectic thing. Side A is a filtered house banger “Gracefully" - a result of sampling games with Moscow house star Lay-Far (Local Talk, In-beat-ween). Side B - “Afterwards” tune is a real one-loop thriller, dirty and raw, with african samples and invisible sub bass line. On B side you can also find a psychedelic version of “ Afterwards” by Saint Petersburg techno artist Nocow (Roots United, Fauxpas Musik).

So Flute Mix 005 / Lay-Far (Local Talk, Atjazz Records, Basic Fingers, Moscow)

Joining us for our 3rd Birthday show on Friday 13th February is Moscow based producer / DJ, Lay-Far. He has been kind enough to contribute to our mix series and in the process has surely delivered one of our favourites to date. In true So Flute fashion, Lay-Far covers thousands of miles throughout the hour long mix, covering groove music created worldwide over several continents. The journey begins with broken beat from Scotland in the form of Linkwood, followed by a section dedicated to Latin American grooves, including one of his own edit's of Mexican jazz fusion pioneer, Carlos Santana. The mix continues on a broken beat tip, sliding into dancefloor ready soulful house music. After an afro house classic by Osunlade, Lay-Far moves back into the eclectic with a healthy dose of lively jazz-funk & soul to complete a banging mix. If like us you were left wanting more, you can catch him at our 3rd Birthday at The Roadhouse where he will be making his MCR debut. Joining him will be our second Birthday guest Andrew Ashong & residents Werkha & Bolts. The best MC in the galaxy, Kwasi, hosts. Lay-Far - New Day, New Light

Lazy Days is proud to introduce you a new artist to the family, Lay-Far. Discovered recently with his Double Vinyl Album, “So Many Ways”, we reached out to the Russian producer to get some original music for the label. A quick reply led to this 3 track EP landing in our inbox. “New Day, New Light” opens the EP with an uplifting vibe, thanks to its great String sample hook. “Thru” follows with a lively Jazz-Funk influenced number that reminds us of early Svek Records. “If Only The Time” leaves us on a good note by slowing the tempo down but keeping the energy up. We hope you enjoy this first outing from our new friend Alexander Lay-Far and hope to bring you more of his music in a near future. Early support by: Roberto Rodriguez, Art Of Tones, Giom, Mark Farina, Satoshi Tomiie, Nacho Marco, Shur-I-Kan, Kev Beadle, Karizma...

Outro Press-release: Releasing an album is a daunting task, especially in dance music. You got to keep it fresh and exciting from the very beginning until the last track and ultimately tell a story with your music. Alexander Lay-Far knows a thing or two about this, having his debut album ”So Many Ways” out back in 2013. The thing with Lay-Far and a big reason why we’ve always had a soft spot for him is the way he incorporates a certain magic in his tracks that leaves you on an uplifting and optimistic note. Therefore we’re really excited to release his second album, “How I Communicate”, on Local Talk! The album was produced in Moscow, Russia in the end of 2014-2015, and as the author puts it: “Many of the featured tracks came to life as the result of actual international or imaginary spiritual journeys”. With a linguistic background and Master degree in foreign language studies, in his new album Lay-Far questions the official importance of the non-poetic verbal communication, utilizing heavy dance rhythms, funky grooves, catchy soulful hooks and overall spiritual messages with lots of cultural allusions. To his aid he has invited an impressive cast of collaborators such as Ashley Beedle & Darren Morris, Sean McCabe, Mark De Clive-Lowe, Magic Number, Ricky Reid just to name a few. Travelling the world far and wide, Lay-Far intended this album as a metaphor, reflection about the way a musician communicates with his listener. How such a non-local and very ephemeral, abstract thing as music manifests itself in a very physical and tangible way, regardless of the place and time: through the vibrations, dance, unity, interaction of kindred spirits and mutual expression of feelings and emotions. “How I Communicate” is a two part vinyl release which we hope will come as a fresh breeze in these days where so much dance music simply lacks the actual musical (song) aspect or the organic approach!
