FUTURE SELF | Project Film

FUTURE SELF studies human movement, mirroring interaction in dance, light and sound, while exploring the self, present and future. FUTURE SELF brought together a media artist collective, rAndom International, a choreographer, Wayne McGregor, and a composer, Max Richter in a unique interdisciplinary clash at MADE. The FUTURE SELF Project Film documents the creative working process, which began in London, England, continued in Berlin and culminated in three wonderful performances at MADE. Pause 2016 Motion Response - Vision by Cyrill Durigon

Discovering your future self, is like meeting your future you. So, what if you future you could come back from the future, to advise you about the experience? This short video represents this meeting with the future you. Showing you what your future could be. It looks like sci-fi because of the time travel, but actually there is no destiny, nothing is a fatality. It’s impossible to travel in time, but it’s possible to anticipate, to learn to know yourself more. The future is not written, even if your future you tell’s you what will happen. It’s just one path. The future is made of what you choose to do. ___ In partnership with The Foundry. For the Pause 2016. Credits: Creation : Cyrill Durigon Music : Connections By WHIPPED CREAM & Holly

An animated self-portrait exploring the line of human evolution and a projection of a possible future. As our evolution turns from biological to technological, are we now the bridge between the born and the made. I painted this stop frame animation on myself using face paint, a mirror and a camera. Future Self by Random International (2012) | private preview Berlin

The installation Future Self presents viewers with their full-length body image, three-dimensionally distributed as tiny points of light. Quoting the minimalist tradition, Random International has reduced the resolution of the reflected form significantly, but without impeding its recognition. A slight delay in the depiction offers an encounter with the self-image that is immediate yet ethereal. Future Self studies human movement: what it reveals about our identity, the relationship we have with our own image and with others. The installation is extensively explored in a contemporary dance piece choreographed by Wayne McGregor and scored by Max Richter. Documentation from MADE, Berlin.

14. Nova

Nova

Track: Detritus "The Very Idea" Taken from the album "The Very Idea" Ad Noiseam adn177 www.adnoiseam.net “Nova” is another self-initiated personal project that I've written, designed and animated. It’s a 3D short film about a future where scientist are able to create artificial, self-sufficient, miniature suns. These are used as limitless energy sources, however, if we’re able to create artificial suns, why not use them to create new constellations and paint the night sky with stars.. -------------------------- There's a short montage, showing the various interface scenes without any distortions etc, available here: http://www.andreaswannerstedt.se/motion/nova/interface/ -------------------------- Creating an artificial sun on earth is not all science fiction. While it has seemed an impossible goal for nearly 100 years, scientists now believe that they are on brink of cracking one of the biggest problems in physics by harnessing the power of nuclear fusion, the reaction that burns at the heart of the sun. In fact, the European experimental facility “JET” has already done it, but only for a couple of seconds. The scientists still tries to reach ignition: the point at which the reaction becomes self-sustaining, just like the sun. So far, only one man-made device has ever achieved that, and it happens to be the hydrogen bomb. Experts believe that achieving fusion ignition is the first step towards the potentially limitless energy source that is nuclear fusion. In other words, miniature suns could be the future of renewable energy. The need for a new energy source has never been more pressing. Global energy demand is expected to double by 2050, while the share coming from fossil fuels – currently 85% – needs to drop dramatically if we are to reduce carbon emissions and limit global warming. --------------------------

18. BMW Group “The Next 100 Years” Show Creation Andree Verleger with lead agency VOK DAMS

BMW Group “The Next 100 Years” Show Creation Andree Verleger with lead agency VOK DAMS

A company's anniversary certainly requires an appropriate celebration, especially when it comes to the centenary of a global company like the BMW Group. The task of staging this celebration was entrusted to the media artist Andree Verleger and his ABC Event Production, which together with lead agency VOK DAMS were responsible for creating a spectacular show. But in addition to demonstrating the company's natural technical finesse in the automotive industry, the show gave attention to the people and employees who have always been the company's supporting pillars. This interaction was made figuratively visible through the employees who formed an essential design element and were made a part of the show. Thus, it was not the sole objective of the show to simply demonstrate the technical progress that has been made by the BMW Group. Rather, the show provided a glimpse into the future. Andree Verleger succeeded in balancing the presentation of people and technologies, past and future by perfectly reconciling these ideas with each other in the show. These ideas were incorporated imperceptibly into the show's technical underpinnings. This is how the show afforded us a glimpse of the Next 100 Years. The 12 scenes of suspenseful live media performance that demonstrated a lot of courage given the low volume and large images formed the high watermark of the show's emotional, holistic staging. congaz Düsseldorf assumed responsibility for the show's media production. ABC Event Production succeeded in combining 50 interns from BMW AG, 30 dancers, six singers, three flying acrobats and a storyteller with a tremendous kinetic sculpture made of 880 self-luminous balls, two robotic arms, 149 projectors and a spectacular stage set. First real outdoor Jib Arm Test on our KesslerCrane Gear

this is a small testrun we´ve made with our new little self made jib arm to use it for some crane shots in future productions. we´ve tested how smooth the moves are in real outdoor situations in use with the kesslercrane cineslider, revolution head and the oracle controller for real time motion control shots. the first test with the jib arm runs out great. we tried to build the jib arm as lightweight as we could to being able to use the jib arm with the revolution head. we´re limited in some movements but for some things it´s great. at this time we´re also limited to use this jib arm for timelapse. there is a little bit more "thinking work" on this. but we´re working on to make it work in the future.
