3. Never Too Late

Never Too Late

“Never Too Late,” the latest single from Mike Daly & The Planets, is now available on Amazon and iTunes, and can soon be found wherever fine digital music is sold and streamed. “Never Too Late” was originally written for consideration as the theme song to the CBS hour-long dramedy, “That’s Life” (2000-2002). The song didn’t fit stylistcally with Mike’s band at the time, Every Damn Day, but it did somewhat inform the direction of Mike Daly & The Planets. The track, recorded at The Jerk Store, Haledon, NJ, features Mike on guitars and vocals; Jim Van Sickle on bass; Jim Smith on drums and percussion; Mike’s nephew, Emmet Moeller, on viola; and his niece, Kelsey Daly, on cello. It was produced by Mike and Jim VS, mixed by Jim VS, and mastered by Scott Anthony at Storybook Sound.

Salvation (Acoustic Demo)

Acoustic demo of "Salvation," Copyright 2011 Michael Daly (ASCAP) Lyrics: In a world where seldom do we get to choose Ad even when you win, you lose I thank God for you In a world where no one stands for what they say And fear and anger rule the day I thank God for you CHORUS: You’re my salvation You’re the one who cured me of my stagnation And changed my point of view You’re my foundation I believe in something pure and true I thank God for you In a world where bullies plot their evil schemes Protected by computer screens I thank God for you In a world where kids live under microscopes And many feel they’ve got no hope I thank God for you CHORUS In a world where corporations kill the sea And threaten all humanity I thank God for you In a world where love is strong but so is hate And at times, it’s hard to keep the faith I thank God for you www.mikedaly.com

11. Weary

Weary

I’m sorry I was mean I didn’t mean it It’s just that I’ve been so unhappy Bitter and tired Weary I’m mired in regret It’s paralyzing There I go again, overanalyzing I see it in your eyes Weary CHORUS: I want to be someone else Anybody else but who I am I wish I were somewhere else Anywhere else, but here I am And I know I’m making things More complicated Than they have to be But that’s just me defeating myself Weary You can’t take anymore Can’t say I blame you You’re showing me the door I guess we’re both exhausted by it all Weary CHORUS: And I try to be up, and I try to be strong But it’s hard when you’re so unkind And I know that this place isn’t where I belong Can you see how I’ve lost my mind? I’m sorry I was mean I didn’t mean it But I was just returning fire No wonder I’m so Weary CHORUS:

12. Star

Star

So I’ve been strange My demeanor seems to change Whenever we see each other It makes you uncomfortable but You are so rare That you catch me unprepared To have your light shine on me I’m all but blinded by it If I could do anything for you You’d see you the way that I do As the star you are It’s not just lust It’s not even about us Though you’ll always have my Undying admiration It’s about you And that voodoo that you do The mischief in your eyes The sparkle in your smile If I could give anything to you I’d give you the confidence to Be the star you are And it’s no secret Everyone who knows you knows it’s true It’s no secret to anyone but you And so while I Always take tremendous pride Seeing you in the spotlight Whenever you’ll allow it I want to be there When you finally take your share I’ll be cheering for you ’Cause you know I adore you If I could give anything to you I’d give you the confidence to Be the star you are

13. Find The Pleasure

Find The Pleasure

In all passion there is pain Let me say it once again In all passion there is pain In all wisdom there is loss That's the fundamental cost In all wisdom there is loss Tears of grief, tears of joy Well, they're all the same, my boy There's only so much pressure you can stand So much tension and fear That's been building through the years Always try to find the pleasure where you can In all laughter there is hurt That your mind learns to convert In all laughter there is hurt In all anger there is fear Of losing something you hold dear In all anger there is fear Tears of grief, tears of joy Well, they're all the same, my boy There's only so much pressure you can stand So much tension and fear That's been building through the years Always try to find the pleasure where you can In all passion there is pain Only so much you can stand In all anger there is fear Find the pleasure where you can

You know, I used to practice taekwondo But now I taekwon-don't Guess you could say I used to have the will But now I have the won't I just want to stay inside all day Comfy in my jammies Polishing my Grammys that I'll never win, And then later on, I'll order in I've got a knack for slack I used to have ambition Hope I never get it back 'Cause I'd really rather have a snack But more than anything, I'd rather slack There was a time I used to B 'n' C But now I'm X'n Y Like, "Why does 6 hate on 7 so much?" Because 7 wouldn't lie I just want to spend each dreaming hour Here in my cabana, singing with Susanna My eternal flame Oh Susanna, do you feel the same? I've got a knack for slack I used to have ambition Hope I never get it back 43 But more than anything... Please don't judge me or begrudge me 'Cause I used to run your race But now I need a different pace And Jell-O Pudding by the case Slack Pack! 15. Nonsense

Nonsense

I'm not lookin' for something different for something "better" as if it even exists I'm not lookin' for greener pastures or youth recaptured what kind of nonsense is this? People runnin' One to another Go undercover To rediscover their bliss Any bagel fits Any banana, but That ain't nirvana What kind of nonsense is this? Ain't got no land Ain't got no cheddar Ask Eddie Vedder Could you find better than this? I guess you could If you want riches, but That ain't what rich is What kind of nonsense is this? Baby, you and I make perfect sense When you weigh all of the circumstantial evidence In the present and the future tense You're my one and only, one and only one and only, one and only one So worry not About tomorrow 'Cause Cupid's arrow Definitely didn't miss I'm not lookin' For something different That would be ign'rant What kind of nonsense is this?
