Drone Reel - Over Enchanted Lands // New Zealand

Cinematographer / UAV Pilot / Editor : Richard Patterson Music by Tiki Taane ( Colorist : Josh Kanuck // DaVinci Resolve Sound Design : Joel C Hernandez Motion Graphics : Dan Williams (Contact Richard Patterson at For Usage Inquiries) I created this project while celebrating my honeymoon in December 2015 in New Zealand and Australia. We were captivated by the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand. The music of Tiki Taane created the soundtrack for our trip. We purchased his CDs, in a local record shop in Lake Taupo located on the North Island of New Zealand. Serving as the inspiration for our 800 mile journey across both islands of New Zealand, we knew exactly what music had to accompany the video we would eventually create back at home. The graciousness of the people, fresh food, and rhythm of life in New Zealand are unbelievably inviting. Learning about the Maori culture was enlightening. Also a big thanks to our dear Aussie friends Nic, Marcele, and Sophia for the warm welcome as well. Our surroundings sparked a number of enthusiastic conversations flirting with the idea of bailing on hustle of New York in order to raise a family in this place. I agree, a cliche conversation for two New Yorker newlyweds, but the allure was undeniable. Creating these visuals never felt like work, it felt like fun. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did wondering the countryside. Peter Jackson didn't have that tough of a job after all.

Dislocated: Stories from the Navajo New Lands

There is no word for 'relocate' in the Navajo language. To Navajos, relocation means to disappear forever. In 1974, Congress passed a law that ended a land dispute between the Navajo and the Hopi Tribe. The Navajo-Hopi Land Settlement Act caused the relocation of thousands of Navajo from their homes in Arizona. This documentary tells three stories of what life is like, today, in what has since been called the New Lands: Mae Horseman and her daughter return to their old home 23 years after they were forced to move; residents of the New Lands protest the rise of alcoholism and related crimes and attempt to force the closure of an liquor store; on the positive side, some have created a demonstration ranch for cattle and providing training for raising cattle for famed Navajo beef.

The Epic Land Part 1 - New Zealand Landscapes Timelapse

Watch full screen in HD with sound if your device allows. Follow my work at: Once again the lure of capturing the beauty of the wilderness landscapes around here has got a hold of me and taken up all the spare moments between my day job and kids. Preserved here are some brief moments of light and time that I have experienced over the last 6 months or so. Every time I go into the wilderness I wonder how much longer will we be able to gaze into truly dark night skies. I wonder too if the way in which the climate seems to be rapidly changing will have an impact on the way that my kids and their future generations experience these wilderness places and the impact that it might have on this 'epic land'. It's all too easy to forget about those things in our busy lives. I hope this time lapse show reel helps you experience a little piece of this epic landscape. What I am not able to show is the effort behind every scene and the great challenges that mother nature throws at you when you are trying to do this stuff. Even though every scene was planned in my head I don't think any of them turned out the way I envisaged and often the conditions would get the better of me and my gear. On the flip side sometimes you've just got to be out there because you can't plan when the conditions will present 'a little piece of magic'. Please leave a comment if you wish, I'd love to hear from you. All scenes shot in the North Island of New Zealand. Main equipment used: Canon 5D Mark II & various Canon Lenses Dynamic Perception Stage Zero 6ft Dolly Music: "I Am You" by HECQ, licensed for use through Erased Tapes Music Publishing Ltd. Serbia Land of New Beginnings

Storytraveler Mark Hofmeyr travelled with Melvin (@traveldudes, Kash (@budgettraveller), Rob (@bloggeries) and Becki (@bordersofadv) travelled to Serbia: a Lonely Planet top 10 country to visit in 2015 #MySerbia brought to you by iambassador and Serbia Tourism Travel to Serbia – See It With New Eyes Under the glare of former headlines, Serbia is shouting about its stunningly beautiful country flanked by mountainous plains, mixed with historically preserved towns and cities. Neither disappeared during war. They were simply shrouded, ready to be unveiled when the time came for a new beginning – in a Serbia that even if somewhat still politically fragmented, is both safe and open for exploration. ~Becki Enright Filmed and edited by Mark Hofmeyr on behalf of connect on facebook Writing: Becki enright Voice: Don McCorkindale

20. The New Wild - Life in the Abandoned Lands [TRAILER]

The New Wild - Life in the Abandoned Lands [TRAILER]

Trailer for the film THE NEW WILD: LIFE IN THE ABANDONED LANDS FILM SYNOPSIS As rural populations age and decline, new and surprising landscapes are appearing across Europe. Farmland lies abandoned, reclaimed by a self-willed natural world: trees are growing where once there were fields; wild animals roam free amongst the debris. Away from the pull of our economic centres, marginalised regions are witnessing the start of a demographic and cultural collapse. Ways of life become stories, stories become history, and as the city grows the memory fades. But things grow from the cracks of ruin, and in the cracks of great change are small stories. In an abandoned alpine valley, one village’s precarious attempt to survive offers a series of reflections on our changing relationship with the countryside and as such with the natural world itself.
