1. NKP 765 At Hoosier Valley Railroad

NKP 765 At Hoosier Valley Railroad

The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is located in the town of North Judson, Indiana and operates regular diesel powered excursions to LaCrosse and shorter trips to English Lake using diesel power. The non-profit all-volunteer organization has a goal of restoring C&O steam engine 2789, which is being cared for inside their large back shop building until adequate funding can be arranged. They also have a number of fine examples of railroad cars in their collection. On several occasions, the railroad has hosted Nickel Plate 765, which was built in 1944 by the Lima Locomotive Works. The railroad retired the engine in 1957 and donated it to the City of Fort Wayne for display in a park. In 1972 the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society was formed to restore the rusting engine to operating condition. It began its second life running excursion trains around the country from 1979 to 1993. Following another extensive rebuilding, the engine was once again returned to service in 2005. The scenes you are watching are from our visit during Memorial Day weekend 2009. The program can be seen in its entirety on our DVD “Midwest Steam 2009 - Part 1”. We also feature this beautiful steam locomotive operating at Train Festival 2009 on “Midwest Steam 2009 - Part 2”. DVD - Midwest Steam 2009, Part 1

This is a short preview of the Yard Goat Images DVD “Midwest Steam 2009 - Part 1”. The DVD is centered around Train Festival 2009 in Owosso, Michigan. Our coverage begins with SP 4449 as the locomotive travels through North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and on to Owosso. Action on the festival grounds features 8 steam locomotives and some classic diesels. There is also an all-day festival trip behind 4449. Additional chapters feature NKP 765 at Hoosier Valley Railroad in Judson, Indiana and visits to Michigan’s Little River Railroad and Huckleberry Railroad. Multiple tripod-mounted hi-def cameras with high quality microphones were used to record our footage. The DVD is 98 minutes with minimal narration. Midwest Steam 2009 Part 1 & 2 were reviewed in Trains magazine (July 2010) and s-gaugian magazine (Sep-Oct 2010 issue). 3. NKP 765 Travels Home

NKP 765 Travels Home

NKP 765 is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but in 2011 it spent a great deal of time away from home, starting with several weeks at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in the Spring. Then it was on to Rock Island for Train Festival 2011 at Rock Island, Illinois. Immediately after the Train Festival closed on Sunday evening, the engine traveled the roughly 110 miles to Peoria, where it spent the night. The following day, 765 and its train traveled over the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railway, a short line owned by Rail America, to reach Logansport, Indiana. The third day was on Norfolk Southern to Fort Wayne. Our program artfully documents the second day as the train worked its way across Illinois and Indiana on the TP&W to Logansport late in the day. It was a warm summer day as the steam locomotive covered the roughly 175 miles through farm country and small towns, with a welcoming reception when it reached Logansport. Enjoy the beauty of this magnificent steam locomotive - 765 Travels Home! "NKP 765 Travels Home" is also available on the "Steamin' Summer, Volume 3" DVD from Yard Goat Images
