1. Patterns of Perception 33 - Hiyoshi

Patterns of Perception 33 - Hiyoshi

Long-time resident of The Labyrinth (Japan, @mindgameslaby), Hiyoshi’s vivid, contemplative ambient mixes draw together musical elements from a diversity of sources, yet retain a rare purity of emotion and atmosphere. With Patterns of Perception 33 Hiyoshi aims to capture the essence of his most affecting sets of the past year, including at Sound Garden, Labyrinth, and One party, while also paying respect to friends and artists who’ve mentored and supported him. The result is a lucid, ethereal selection, a dance in the diffuse sunlight, on the surface of the lake, always hinting at the depths below. 2. Patterns of Perception 19 - Svreca

Patterns of Perception 19 - Svreca

Svreca needs little introduction. The Semantica label head has carved out a reputation in his hometown, Madrid, and internationally as a master of deep, hypnotic, forward-thinking techno. For our One Year celebration at ://aboutblank in Berlin in May 2017, he held us spellbound under the glow of the late-spring sun with this luminescent mix of colours, textures, and sounds. We are very excited to present the live recording of this set as the latest installation in our mix series. Patterns of Perception 39 - Chris SSG

Chris SSG needs little introduction. As co-founder of the hugely influential (former) MNML SSGS blog and now organiser of MNML SSGS events, he has for years been at the cutting edge of electronic music in his hometown of Tokyo and abroad. Eschewing conventional dancefloor sensibilities, his music moves effortlessly between ambient, experimental, komische and abstract techno. His Patterns of Perception 39 is a journey through a range of his current musical foci, and was recorded live at @dredrecordsberlin 's Space Cakes event on 12 August 2018, drawing from an emotional palate inspired by the summer in which it was recorded. 4. Patterns of Perception 34 - Wanderwelle

Patterns of Perception 34 - Wanderwelle

Hailing from Amsterdam, Wanderwelle's unique brand of invigorating, meditative deep electronica has quickly made a mark internationally. Their creative output is intricate and well-considered, with each release featuring field recordings and deep-lying concepts which draw inspiration from folklore and natural environments. Following on from releases on @silent-season - including the acclaimed "Lost in a Sea of Trees" from 2017 - the duo has increased their exposure, performing at Isotoop in the Rotterdam, Tresor in Berlin and an upcoming debut outdoor set at Croatia's Modem Festival. Along with this, their contribution to @grandriver 's @oneinstrument project found its way onto vinyl earlier this year. For their contribution to Patterns of Perception, the duo explore a range of sounds - from lush ambience and deep techno to experimental electronica - that translate impeccably into a single, cohesive yet wide-ranging narrative. Their next LP "Gathering of the Ancient Spirits" (also on Silent Season) is slated for release later this summer. Patterns of Perception 07 - natural/electronic.system.

Italian duo https://soundcloud.com/naturalelectronicsystem have been a force within techno’s underground since 2004, gaining respect through their much revered podcasts for cult websites such as mnml ssgs and Smoke Machine, as well as their international dj sets, including at Labyrinth in Japan. After a mesmerizing set at the Patterns of Perception opening party at OHM in April, we are pleased to have natural/electronic.system. provide the seventh installment of our mix series - an hour of groovy, slowly unfolding dub techno. We also had a chat with the duo about the mix, their push into production, and the music that makes them 'vibrate': http://goo.gl/LxTbOH

9. Patterns of Perception 41 - Yuka

Patterns of Perception 41 - Yuka

Since first playing at the second Patterns of Perception back in 2016, techno veteran @yuka, has bestowed a special beat upon Patterns of Perception’s heart. With interests that span painting, sculpture, design and music, Yuka’s unique groove – which is as deep and psychedelic as it is lucent and energetic – has captivated dancers across the globe. Meanwhile, her productions, out on @fullpanda-records, @semantica-records, @silent-season and soon on @kalawila's Mountain Explosion Device are ornate, magical, and profound. Her Patterns of Perception 41 perfectly captures the rich threads in her musical tapestry. 10. Patterns of Perception 46 - Konduku

Patterns of Perception 46 - Konduku

Konduku (a.k.a. Ruben Üvez) burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut album Kıran, named after the picturesque hill in Turkey's Cappadocia under which his father is buried. That man and that place are in many ways the inspiration behind this unique artist's arresting blending of atmospheric melodica and polyrhythmic drive, grounded in equal measure upon the mystifying beauty of his ancestral home and the thrilling electronic music scene of the Netherlands in which he was raised. His Patterns of Perception 46 perfectly reflects these dual complementary forces, at once arcane and palpable. And perhaps the third vital foundation upon which this mix's incandescent energy stands is the process by which it was created: two turntables, one take. Patterns of Perception 15 - Jamie McCue

From his home in the rainforests of Vancouver Island, Canada, @silent-season label head Jamie McCue brings us a mix infused with warm, ethereal textures, spacious dub elements, and insistent rhythms. Jamie founded Silent Season after moving to the remote woodlands of British Columbia in the mid-2000s. Deeply influenced by the colours, scents and ambience of the environment around him, Jamie’s tastes are reflected in Silent Season’s releases, which include titles from @refracted-music, @yuka, @archivistseattle, @emanuelepertoldi (Shaded Explorer) and @edanticonf. 12. Patterns of Perception 22 - A Strangely Isolated Place

Patterns of Perception 22 - A Strangely Isolated Place

London-born, LA-based Ryan Griffin began @astrangelyisolatedplace a decade ago as a manifestation of his love for collecting and sharing music. The project soon grew into a vinyl label and a community of artists sharing a reverence for a diverse and esoteric range of genres, from ambient to electronica, modern classical to techno. Artists releasing on the label currently include Merrin Karras aka @chymera, Arovane (@arovane-1), Leandro Fresco & Rafael Anton Irisarri (@irisarri), @purl, and @markusguentner. This atmospheric selection incorporates into A Strangely Isolated Place's signature sound additional elements of the trance and house music genres on which Ryan cut his DJing teeth. An organic approach to selection and mixing ensures a richly layered collage that manages to take some startling turns while remaining effortlessly cohesive throughout. Patterns of Perception 38 - Garçon

In his hometown of Basel where he is a resident at techno institution Elysia, @garcon’s name is synonymous with extended, expertly structured DJ sets rich in nuance and intensity. Co-owner of @amenthia-recordings with long-time collaborator @agonis-amenthia, the two have shared the unique artistic vision embodied by their label. Combining elements that span a diverse musical landscape, Garçon’s mixes tend to be rhythmically, texturally and stylistically diverse, grounded in techno but always delving deeper and further afield. His Patterns of Perception 38 is no exception. 16. Patterns of Perception 26 - Hydrangea

Patterns of Perception 26 - Hydrangea

@hydrangeamusic ’s life as a producer and DJ began relatively recently, when in 2014 she began expressing the quietness, wonder and intensity of nature in techno. For this prodigious French talent, creating and selecting music is an act of entering a deeper dimension, both transcendent and grounded in the hypnotic beauty of the natural world. As a producer, she has released her own productions – which are lucid, mesmerising, arresting – on @annulled_music, @two-two-records, and @silent-season. As a DJ, she is equally inspired by the dancefloors she plays to across Europe as by the nature around her home. She describes this mix for Patterns of Perception as a musical trip for one of her walks in the forest, creating an inner journey while being connected with the surroundings. Wherever you happen to listen to it, we are confident it will have a similar effect on you. 17. Patterns of Perception 31 - John Osborn

Patterns of Perception 31 - John Osborn

@johnosborn moved to Berlin in the late 1990’s, in the aftermath of the fall of the wall, when the city was heaving with electronic music and full of empty spaces in which creativity could thrive. From his first gig at WMF, on the bill alongside @dixon and @mitja-prinz, to his residency at Panorama Bar for @scubaofficial’s famed SUB:STANCE parties, he quickly became a regular fixture in the local electronic music scene – and has remained there since. As the head of DRED (and formerly of TANSTAAFL RECORDS), John has found space to express his creativity away from the dancefloor, both as a producer/remixer and as a selector and champion of emerging and established artists. This adroit, blistering mix is a live recording of his sunrise set from Patterns of Perception’s Two Years party at @about-blank-berlin on 5-6 May, 2018.
