Exo

Exo is an electric off-road vehicle for recreational use on dirt, sand and gravel. The aim of the project is to merge man and machine providing a deeply immersive driving experience. The vehicle leans during cornering connecting body motion to vehicle motion and allows a higher maximum cornering speed. The birdcage frame is fabricated from Aluminium tubing. Power comes from a 10kW DC brushless motor run from a Lithium Ion Battery pack. Exo was designed, built and tested by Henry Daly as a Product Design final year project in Dublin Institute of Technology. Shown here is the prototyping build phase and testing. Due to time and financial constraints this prototype is built from mild steel and uses a 1.5kw motor powered by lead acid batteries. Future plans are to refine the design and build more prototypes. DJ Derrick May @ Motor Revisited (Nov 26th, 2011) (DTV)

DJ Derrick May returns to the building that once housed Motor-Lounge, URB Magazine's #1 nightclub in the US for 2002, for a one-night-only view of what Motor used to be about, entitled "Motor Revisited". The event took place on November 26th, 2011 at the old Motor-Detroit location, which had been scheduled for remodeling for a new purpose. Motor closed in 2002, but the building had remained mostly unused for that entire time. The night started strong with Anthony Attalia, then Derrick steps up for a 3+ hour set that owned the house. Filled with fans of the original nightclub, and those wondering what they missed when it was open, the crowd was treated to a great performance by one of the world's TOP DJs, and one of 3 people responsible for the creation of Techno. This is unedited footage of most of Derrick's set, and should provide a fair representation of the man's style, grace, and sheer talent. Enjoy and remember to comment and LIKE this video. Trying out the Handy35

Here is just a bit of footage from me fooling around with my new Handy35. This is the first time I've used a 35mm DOF adapter so I've got some work to do. It was obviously all shot handheld (sorry about the shaky shaky). I used a 50mm Canon FD lens at a variety of aperture settings. Some clips were color corrected in Magic Bullet Looks. The DC motor in my adapter is actually loose so the ground glass flops around if I angle the adapter in certain ways. My back focus is probably hosed too. Apparently somebody at the shipping company played kickball with my adapter while it was in transit because they managed to jar the package so hard that the motor actually came loose (the motor is secured in the housing by a mounting screw). Long story short, I was treating the assembly with kid gloves while shooting all of this. Kadir from Handy35 (who is the MAN by the way) has sent me out a new housing so I just have to be really caeful in the meantime until that one arrives.

14. Rancho Deluxe

Rancho Deluxe

"The year is 1947, an ex-serviceman returns home to Southern California. His old '32 Ford Roadster is removed from the shed, and the guts of a wrecked '39 Mercury sedan are transplanted in, giving more power, braking and top speed, essential for the dry lakes racing career he will embark on. He outfits the motor with products from the growing speed equipment industries catalogues, and races his car against fellow car club members and the clock. The car also serves as daily transport for him in the mild So Cal climate, the loud twin exhausts upsetting the locals still not used to the returned soldiers need for peacetime thrills. The era immediately following WW2 in Southern California was the time frame and inspiration for me to build an accurate recreation of a stripped down, dry lakes racing, late forties street roadster. Something of a time machine, so that a drive down the street or across the state could become a journey back sixty years. Rancho Deluxe is my full time business, building traditional hotrod classics and components, and assembling period correct cars. The Rancho Deluxe roadster is my expression of a true Hot-Rod, a time machine back to when innovation was hand built, and the true test of man and machine was flat out across the Lakes" -Ben Thomas Owner of Rancho Deluxe Melbourne/ Australia http://www.ranchodeluxe.com.au/ The above article taken from: Fuel Magazine Australia Issue No.4 http://fuelmagazine.bigcartel.com/product/fuel-magazine-issue-04 http://www.fuelzine.com Check out another article on Ben Thomas: http://mrblanc.com/ben-thomas-at-rancho-deluxe/ Director: Tom Broadhurst www.longwalkfilms.tv Director of Photography: Daniel De Silva Assistant Camera Operators Aaron Cuthbert Tom Broadhurst Editor/Color Grading Daniel De Silva Music "Take the A Train by Bass, Bone, Blue" Gemma Boyd http://www.gemmaboyd.com http://soundcloud.com/gemma-boyd

DataBot Mouse

DataBot Mouse Data or data-streams are not tangible for us at all. We just see graphical abstractions of ones and zeros, visualized as folders, files or loading bars on our screens. DataBot Mouse is an experiment of giving data physical properties, to make the communication/interaction between man and data more human and easier to understand. The mouse is able to communicate three different properties of data. It can show you the weight of files and folders, by braking with different force, according to the file-size. Or you can set a custom weight for files, just like the color marking function in MacOSX. So you can find important files more easily. The third property, the mouse can show you, is the activity of files and folders. By breathing with different intervals, it shows how much a file was opened or how busy a folder has been recently. You can switch between and adjust those features to make the mouse fit your needs. The prototype was implemented with VVVV and Arduino. It mainly consists of a small servo-motor, inside an optical mouse, which brakes a little ball.
