My Golden Ticket, is the latest beautiful personalised book from Wonderbly; a stunning journey into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
Working with Wonderbly's concept of featuring the book in a theatrical 'real-life’ version of the factory, we created a fantastical film that would entice a whole new audience to Roald Dahl’s magical world.
Life’s too short, and so is Napoleon Bonaparte’s temper. Forced to come to grips with his new stature in modern society, Napoleon: The Ticket follows the pint-sized dictator as he grapples with life as an ordinary plebeian.
Winner of Best Short Short at the Atlanta Shortsfest and Best Animated Short at the LA Comedy Festival, Napoleon: The Ticket has screened at film festivals all over the world.

DirecTV's 'Most Powerful Fan' campaign continues with 'Brunch,' the newest spot created by Grey with MJZ director Matthijs Van Heijningen. The Mill worked closely with the creative team to create the most powerful fan's effect on his surroundings as he heads to brunch.
In the first spot 'Landing,' a fan causes a bit of fuss in his neighborhood cull-de-sac. The commotion continues in ' Brunch' on a city street, as the new fan turns a section of the blacktop to rubble in his effort to watch the NFL game on the way to a cafe. Onlookers gape as the fan effortlessly watches a game, smoothly glides up to the restaurant, and catches a bottle of water dropped by a dumb-founded waiter.
VFX supervisor Gavin Wellsman comments: "'Brunch' was another great spot to really push our CG simulations. Our goal was for the interaction to feel authentically real as the pieces of asphalt bounce off the most powerful fan skidding along the road. While on set, we used a mechanically-pulled skid mat to create the gliding effect down the street. This also gave us interaction with piles of debris in its path, which was a perfect reference, and we were even able to use shot elements to blend into the cg for the most believable effect.
"Having shot on the back lot of Paramount studios, a separate challenge was recreating the recognizable look of the New York street. Once back in at The Mill office, the team shot high speed backgrounds in Manhattan to extend our city with moving trees and cars. We really wanted to make sure we had subtle movement in the backgrounds even though the shot was being played at such a slow speed."
The effects in 'Brunch' are a great backdrop to the the passion of the most powerful fan using DirecTV's new Sunday Ticket feature to watch NFL games. Even on the way to brunch with one's lady!
Grey and MJZ's Matthijs Van Heijningen worked with The Mill on 'Landing,' the first spot in the 'Most Powerful Fan' campaign for DirecTV's new Sunday Ticket feature, which allows NFL fans to watch their favorite team no matter where they live.
The most powerful fan causes a bit of a fuss with the force of his devotion to the Philadelphia Eagles. With a mighty super-hero jump into his cul-de-sac, he lands with such strength that it causes a shockwave that kicks up grass, road, cars, and even the neighbor!
VFX Supervisor, Gavin Wellsman explains "From the start the creative team knew this project would be a great opportunity to push the CG capabilities and build an innovative pipeline for the ripple effect.
"The VFX had to be larger than life, since the 'most powerful fan' affects his surroundings in quite a unique way. A wave that rippled through the lawn and driveway was created. The 3D artists set out to develop a method of creating the shock-wave effect prior to the commercial shoot."
VFX/CG Lead Jeff Dates expands "The pipeline that was created used Mill proprietary workflow to allow the artists to design, create, simulate and render over 25 million blades of grass, rocks and roots that made up the grass/sod alone, via a method that was able to be updated daily for creative feedback and art direction. "
It is the behind-the-scenes R&D of the technical pipeline that really made the photo-real visual effects in 'Landing' possible.
Every Summer, thousands of tweens across Canada gather to see their idols perform onstage. They scream, they dance, and they cry more than we probably ever did when Guns & Roses was still a cool band. It's the Big Ticket Summer Concert, and we were invited by Family Channel to design 2014's 'night-themed' on-air package and promo for the event. We hope you enjoy our Director's Cut featured here ;)
