Crystal growth with tP4 (NUKE ZBlur)

This is quite differentsetup than previous one. I use RandomWalk (Blurbeta plugin) to make particle run in a random way. And grow crystals along the trail. I am learning NUKE, so I used ZBlur to create DOF during post.

I blog here: www.JoeRaasch.com I teach here: www.SenecaVFX.com Nuke 7 added a new tool to create defocus effects on to your images, zDefocus. This video goes over: -The difference between a defocus and a blur -Older tools in Nuke that create defocus effects: Convolve and Defocus -The new zDefocus tool. -How would you apply this tool to a image that has no imbedded depth information -How would you apply this tool to a 3D render that has depth information. Nuke Advanced Compositing Tutorial

This nuke tutorial was recorded from one of SCAD's Digital Media Club meetings. The tutorial unfortunately does not have audio, but should be self explanatory from the visuals. The tutorial shows how to composite EXR files rendered from maya and mental ray as well as how to add zblur and motion blur to a movie in nuke.

2D/3D Compositing Exercise w/ Nuke

This was an exercise in making dimensional footage from a simple 2D image using Nuke. It entailed using both the Roto and RotoPaint nodes, Card/Scene/Scanline Render nodes, Snowbox particle node with custom particle shape, ZBlur and Camera nodes plus a few transform nodes as well. Concept and footage from Digital Tutors, executed by me :D Really great learning exercise, can't wait to go take photos of my own and try this out some more.

essai C4D : liquid world

Vehicles & Streets :: CG Short Film

The theme in 'Vehicles & Streets' covers war on the streets and some psychological aspects, affecting drivers. The feeling when you're in a powerful sports car combined with aggressive (or other negative) internal mental state. How does one manage to drive his own power: To play God. NO MATTER WHAT CAR YOU HAVE... OR HOW YOU FEEL INSIDE... DRIVE YOUR OWN POWER... YOU DO NOT NEED TO DIE... Stills & more: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Vehicles-Streets/2229198 'Elements: The Making of 'V&S'': http://vimeo.com/29889745 'V&S' on IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5666318 'V&S' is produced entirely by Zblur and designed by two artists only. This was our first attempt to achieve a high level of photorealistic CG animation in 2K resolution. This film was created as a non-profit project. Special thanks to our families, friends & the film art created by James Cameron! 'V&S' was featured on The CGBros Channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-LPI9k2DWY & The CG Motionbox: http://www.cgmotionbox.com/2012/07/making-of-vehicles-streets/ FACTS & STATISTICS - Includes 17 shots (2K). - Stuff members: 2 artists (Velichkov Bros.) - Year of release: 2011 - In production: More than 3 years (due to repeated long-term interruptions and conceptual changes). - Actual duration of the production: Less than 3 mounts. - All pre-visualizations were made in January 2008. - Almost all CG input renders were made in early 2010. - There are more than 650 000 000 (650M) polygons (excluding millions of particles) included in one scene only. GLSL Fake Bokeh Shader Demo

A GLSL Zblur shader I made. It is tracking the mouse pointer, focusing on the surface underneath. The mouse pointer is not visible because of technical problems. It uses a Z depth pass (coming from a pre-rendered image in this case), and convolves the main image based on the Z depth. The kernel is a circular 7x7 edge weighted one to better simulate an actual camera diaphragm. It would've been better if it was hexagonal, but I couldn't bother, I had to enter it manually by hand. The actual strength of the bokeh is slightly varied by the luminosity of the pixels, so highlights get a stronger effect. The rabbits are pre-rendered in modo and str not realtime rendered.

Singapore University of Technology and Design

This is a Public Service Announcement for Singapore University of Technology and Design. Which means it was pro bono. I did a bit of work with the depth of field to increase the focus on the subject. Plus colour correction and re-edit / tidy up the existing spot.
